I don't know what bitterness is. A state of mind? A habit? A choice? It does seems reflective of unhappy experiences that people don't want to repeat. You folks can't all have met. Why do you feel connected on CS? Because it's a connection between humans? A kind word can go a long ways toward assuaging the bitterness or unhappiness or what it is that you perceive the emotion to be.
I'd use the appropriate emoticon here, but they kind of scare me.
Tell them you'll meet them at the airport and see who shows up. Do they have a cart of luggage or just a carry-on. Avoid if they only have a toothbrush.
It sounds very possible. I'm meeting an increasing number of married couples who met on the net, though most of these are older folk. Someone in one of the forums said 40% of Americans now meet on the web.
