It is not a matter of intelligence or health hazards really. It is supply vs demand what stipulates the salary associated with a job just like any other commodity really.
Plenty of people are willing to do maintenance jobs so supply exceeds demand and thus the wage is low-ish.
Right. Interesting. Something similar here but not languages. Just cannot deal with that myself. In fact, I can't wait for Esperanto to gain some traction. Life would be so much simpler for folk like me.
Science (with the exception of Mathematics which is pure philosophy) is a way of describing observations. As long as a theory fits the observations, therefore, it is perfectly fine. You seem to be assuming that there is an underlying truth or reality but really, reality is undefined and undefinable.
In short, there is no sadness involved. On the contrary, it is rather exciting when we stumble on an observation which doesn't fit the theory because that is the telltale sign that discovery is imminent.
RE: "SIMMO"..("TWO YEARS ON")
Aye, he was indeed a great guy. Alas, it's the way it works I suppose. Not much can be done about it.
