As far as Billy Zane's career, possibly because everyone sees him as the villainous Cal but I didn't think Cal was villainous. Many men are like Cal actually in real life.
What really disturbs me is that they were thinking of casting Matthew McConaughey as Jack Dawson. Oh no. No. Leonardo is way better. Matthew said he actually wanted the role but got turned down. That would've been a very different movie.

Wow...I’m glad to see that there are others interested in this topic besides me and James Cameron lol. And I agree mic...too many should’ve happenings. That’s why they are changing some things with Titanic 2 but you still can’t be 100% confident out there at sea. So many ships have sank in the past. Like you’ve mentioned. I’ve read about those too. There’s no for sure thing out in the ocean. But I’m glad nothing else happened due to icebergs.
I love that the international ice patrol was put in place. I don’t think it was fair that everyone blamed the Californian. The Californian warned Titanic so they weren’t all bad. That responsibility shouldn’t be placed on a nearby craft anyway. They have enough to worry about. It’s like a tornado hitting my house and then I blame my neighbor for not telling me. Lol. We have a warning system in place for those things.
And yes the reverse the propeller thing was interesting. And they said the captain should’ve hit the iceberg head on without turning the ship. Then they could’ve contained the water to those compartments at the tip of the bow. Coulda woulda shoulda. In fact I believe that was noted in the 1996 film. Captain Smith said everyone knows you need to hit an iceberg head on. I’m not sure if he said that in real life though. One can deduce that because it was late at night the Captain went to bed so he wasn’t able to give commands at the time.
Thanks for your contribution mic. I can talk forever about this topic. My brain fixates on certain things for some reason and it chose this. And yes, watching the sinking was terrible. It was like she hung on for as long as possible.
And to correct myself, there’s actually a lot of people interested in this because several movies and documentaries were made on it.
And I just recently read that the wreckage is protected under a US and UK treaty. How awesome! It’s a gravesite and needs to be left alone.
Chat thank you for rectifying my information...it wasn't the hull that was damaged before the maiden voyage...it was one of the bulkheads. What I didn't get was that they completely ignored it. They should've told the builders. Too many things went wrong with this poor ship. I still feel terrible. But yes, that is a very important piece of the puzzle why there was just a domino effect to all this. But there's no doubt that she still would've been sunk by a U-boat eventually had she survived this voyage. Everyone else was sunk by one.

The RMS Carpathia was really the only ship to answer and act to Titanic’s distress call according to the telegraph messages. The other ship’s that tried to respond were mostly confused at the news.
I love this ship and her captain because the captain immediately said set a course to the Titanic immediately right when he heard the news. Then they told Philips via telegraph that they were booking it to them as fast as they could. ??
The almost rescue ship:
The Californian, the ship closest to the Titanic, had warned the Titanic hours earlier that there were icebergs in the area but Titanic disregarded them. The telegrapher then went to sleep because the Californian had stopped for the night due to icebergs in the area. There was controversy on why the Californian did not answer the Titanic distress calls but the captain claimed that it was not done purposely and charges against him were dropped. Plus, Titanic overlooked the warnings so they were both in the wrong here.
Anyway moving on...notable persons that survived the sinking:
Margaret Brown aka The Unsinkable Molly Brown. “New money” according to James Cameron’s film. She encouraged one of the life boats to turn around and look for survivors but sadly they didn’t.
The director of the white star line, Bruce Ismay. He got on a boat shortly before the Titanic sank. He told the captain to test the ship’s speed and then shortly after they struck a berg. He was highly criticized after he showed up alive.
Jack Philips: The wireless officer who tried communicating a distress call for 90 minutes by morse code to nearby ships was pronounced dead by a shipmate on a lifeboat that was upturned. I love him because he was unrelenting sending messages up until the water almost flooded the telegraph room and even when Captain Smith told him to stop and save himself when which the communicating ships said that Titanic fell silent around 2am.
Jack Dawson: He died because Rose didn’t make enough room on the plank for him. Okay I’m kidding on this one. I’m just still mad about that...
Key note and brave people that have perished in the sinking:
John Jacob Aster: The richest man on the ship. Asked if he could go with his wife in a life who was pregnant so he could tend to her. He was denied because only women and children could be on the life boats. He selflessly made sure his wife and baby got on a life boat first.
Captain Smith: Nobly went down with the ship. This was to be his last voyage as he was to retire. It certainly and nobly was his last. Late actor George C. Scott played him in the 1996 film version. There’s an uncanny resemblance.
I guess I’m the only one that doesn’t find it rude. It’s a great way to tell someone you’re not interested by your actions. Just like how I never write men back if I’m not interested. Nothing says I don’t want you more in my opinion. There’s no negative or positive attention. No response is the best response. I had a man do that to me. I wasn’t mad. I just moved on. He wasn’t willing to give me 110% so pfft. I was right. He never contacted me again.
I notice that if he doesn’t ask me any questions then he’s not interested. Just talks about himself the whole time. This one is the easiest to spot for me on dates and a complete turn off for me.
A feel good story? How about the fact that I’m not infected or the fact that I haven’t infected anyone with it. If a day goes by with those two facts it’s a huge accomplishment.
An overwhelming peace came over me tonight telling me that I don’t have to worry about any of this. Hmm...I wonder Who that could be...finally. He told my parents first and now finally me. Yay! I will go grocery shopping when my food gets low again. It’s amazing how much my food gets low when they stop lunches at work but I know God will make a way. He just reassured me tonight. I needed that and He finally did. Maybe my parents prayed for me before they went to bed tonight because someone spiritual definitely happened.
My local Walmart is still very bizarre. People scrounging the last few water bottles. The employees put the last few up by the registers so that was helpful. I just went in there for a quick something. A lady slapped her daughter in the face. I’m home now thank goodness. Lord, people are crazy. I need to wash my hands with SOAP AND WATER now.
