you're missing the point. the closest method for an accurate vote is to be physically present at a booth with proper id. have CNN tell the public there's free toilet paper for every legit voter. if they can make it to WM, they can make it to the polls.
it's not unusual for identity fraudsters to use the mail as a source. why else is it suggested we shred sensitive material before disposing of it? ever hear of check washing. back before online bill pay, people sent in checks. their mail was robbed and the check washed and rewritten to a different amount and payee and then cashed. what about those credit card approvals sent in the mail? nobody ever robbed a mailbox and assumed that person's identity before maxing out the card? oh, there was that postal worker that simply dumped his mail and took the day off. there are too many variables and opportunities. to put it simply, would you hand your credit card and social security card to a complete stranger and hope it gets safely to its final destination?
