but we are beating a dead horse here.....lets get back to the original issue. And that is how can a country spend endless amounts of money on a war....and then say we have to ration rice!! That is the gist of this thread!! Not world aid or world hunger

Actually...Sweden is the most chaitable country in the world. But let's get back to the rice rationing in a country that can afford 10 billion dollars a month to fund a war...but is beginning to ration food
AND to get back to the original idea of this post, I am saying that a country that can spend billions on a war...should be able to buy enough rice to feed it's people!! That was the jist of this post!!
But people like to turn it around as an opportunity to bash the U.S.

What did you do during the hurricanes in the U.S.....the Wild fires in the U.S. 9-11 bombing??? I guess you headed up a major enterprise to help us then!!
America has been there for you people throughout our brief history...but when we needed help...where were you?? No major airlifts into Louisianna, No foreign aid to the victims of 9-11. Maybe some firefighters for the westcoast range fires, I'm not sure.
So, when you talk about how badly we treated the Haitians...remember that a lot of their problems are their own doing. Not the people....but the leaders

I am simply saying that we produce enough rice for Americans. But we sell it to the highest bidder in the world economy...then ration it to oselves. This seems pretty lame.
And yes, I could care less about the world, if we ignore our own people. Charity begins at home, my friend!
As far as the poor Haitians....maybe, just maybe, if the politicians would give the money to the people that is sent there by other countries( U.S. included) instead of to off shore accounts, there would be plenty of food for their people

But America has to watch out for it's people before the world's. That's called protectionism! Is rice being rationed in Ireland?? Would you be happy if your country produced a product...sold it to the highest bidder in the world economy, then told your people we have to ration this product for our own consumption??? No...you wouldn't!
America is not the police of the world...though Bush hasn't gotten that message. Nor are we the worlds provider. We should help other countries...only when we have met our committments to our own people!!
Everyone comes to America with their hand out. Then bashes us for our policies. When we have fed our own...then we should feed others

I care about AQmerica and the Americans!! It about time we put our people first! This country produces a lot of rice....and should not be selling it abroad, then having stores rationing what we buy!!
The greatest and most powerful nation in the world(my opinion only), is now rationing rice. How can anyone still deny we are in a recession! Of course, the Republicans can and do deny anything. How sad, we can fund a war at 10 billion a month...but have to ration a staple like rice to fund it!!

yes...I run a music program in a nursing home. I do it because music calms the savage beast. Older people are often placed in homes and forgotten by their families. Music brings them inner peace
