How can anyone still deny we are in a recession! Of course, the Republicans can and do deny anything. How sad, we can fund a war at 10 billion a month...but have to ration a staple like rice to fund it!!

you mean we will have to stand in lines to get it, maybe just a large spoonful?When we go get Chinese, will they give us fries instead?
Rice Cakes will turn into just Cakes?
Rice Chex will be on the endangered cereal list?

The whole world is rationed because the crops got washed out this year and last, so countries like india and china don't have enough for their own countries. Thailand is producing for export but it more expensive so supermarkets aren't buying it. It's not ALL about the state that America is in........

I am not overly concerned about China, for the same reasons.
I care about AQmerica and the Americans!! It about time we put our people first! This country produces a lot of rice....and should not be selling it abroad, then having stores rationing what we buy!!

What happened to a world view, and caring about poverty. The people in india and china sometimes have nothing except rice for meals. It's not something that they have WITH something else. There often is nothing else.
Would you have them starve to stop rationing something you don't need anyway in america? You have a choice about what you eat. They don't.

This is a very self-centered and small-minded attitude, People have died in Haiti as a direct result of the rice and grain shortage.
We can all of us quite easily afford to eat less rice and grain and eat other carbs until next season.

Do you only watch fox News or something? America does not feed the world. Per capita Ireland (tiny speck that it is), feeds more people than the whole of the united states.
You need to be seeing the bigger picture here.....

But America has to watch out for it's people before the world's. That's called protectionism! Is rice being rationed in Ireland?? Would you be happy if your country produced a product...sold it to the highest bidder in the world economy, then told your people we have to ration this product for our own consumption??? No...you wouldn't!

The so called Common Agricultural policy.
Now there is a world food crisis how about the price fixers making full use of available land for farming purposes.
Quite apart from the above there seems to be a free for all of farmers wishing to produce Biofuel crops instead of food.
Unfortunately the poorest always seem to suffer most.

Rice is being rationed IN EVERY COUNTRY IN THE WORLD. Didn't you get that the first time I said it?
And yes, Ireland is rationed often on things it produces for export, beef, chicken and dairy products from time to time, among others .....
It's about economics. Read up on what is happening economically GLOBALY and you will see why america is in trouble..........

The CAP is not as simple as merely keeping food prices high, it also has to do with overproduction of food which is too costly to store and to allow imports of foods from countries outside the EU.

I am simply saying that we produce enough rice for Americans. But we sell it to the highest bidder in the world economy...then ration it to oselves. This seems pretty lame.
