Putting this in terms of a relationship, that is probably true. Women tend to monitor a relationship more carefully, while men tend to equate their well being with outer parameters, such as career or possessions. Women will seek to recontextualise the relationship, men are more concerned to fix what is broken. The goals are similar, but the means are poles apart.
