Vengeance is a natural and understandable reaction when children are harmed, it's a very emotive subject. However, a civilised society has to strive to meter out punishment that doesn't then render itself uncivilised.
Some of the suggestions in this thread are truly bordering on barbaric.
Most of these people are not hardened criminals and they can't 'do' prison. Many of them commit suicide, Ian Huntley has been revived three times after suicide attempts.
My point is, for child murderers in particular, prison life is a living hell.
They should be left to wallow in misery in my opinion.
