Scientists want us to eat insects- for the sake of our health and for that of our planet. Theysay that scoffing spiders and gobbling down grasshoppers- or entomophagy, to use its proper name- provides essential nutrients, keeps down pests and puts much less strain on the planet than eating conventional meat. "Insects are the most valuable, underused and delicious animals in the world" says David George Gordon, a Seattle based naturalist and author. "The West is one of the few cultures that doesn't eat them" he adds. "maybe we are the wierdos" Culturing insects require preserving forests, not felling them for agricultural use, experts point out, adding to that it is perverse to use pesticides to kill insects that are more nutritious than the crops they prey on.
They had a very efficient and productive system, they got on with whatever was needed to see them through their days. For them though, 'sleeptime' mattered more than their daily lives. Like i said, this was many years ago and i have often wondered if this tribe still exists.
Tried this a while back, but to no avail. It must be fantastic to control your own dreams. I remember seeing a programme many year ago about a nomadic tribe living in Mongolia who had mastered this. Their entire lives revolved around their 'dreamtime' and their most important part of the day was the morning when they would sit around and discuss the nights dreams.
First time i was in the States i went into a store and asked for twenty marlboro. The guy looked at me strange, went into the back of the store and came back with twenty packs of marlboro. In the uk you would never ask for a pack of cigarettes, you would ask for the the number of cigarettes you want to buy, in multiples of ten. Needles to say, he had to take the other nine packs back.
Rubbish, as i have already said, most if not all the people i know who have been in long term relationships are NOT married. Most, if not all who were married have now gone their separate ways.
