Joel, in my own personal experience I have hired friends, worked for friends and worked with friends. Even if the "friend" is the best one for the job, I would be hesitant. I feel it's best to keep it all seperate but that doesn't mean I wouldn't help a friend get a job or offer assistance in another capacity. Working close together can strain any relationship and the possibilty of everything coming to an end is there.
I like Sabbath as well and have to make one comment. Sabbath was Sabbath when Ozzy was the singer. Like most bands, it's never the same once the original group breaks up. Sometimes they get better but it's not the same. I like Dio but it's not really Sabbath anymore. It's another band altogether different, just with the same name. This would be the same for Zeppelin. Their upcoming concert in the UK will be the same tunes but not really Zeppelin. Even if Jason Bonham is playing the drums. Not the same without John Bonham. Even Robert Plant said this right after John died. That's why they broke up. I'd still love to go see this concert and hear them play all the old Zeppelin tunes.
I find this funny yet disturbing. Hasn't anyone figured out that it's money that truly makes the world go round? In our personal lives it may be love but realistically the dollar is running our lives. Oil is money for a lot of people across the planet and that isn't going to change anytime soon. There have been reports made for decades that we're running out and there's going to be a crises. Absolute BS. The only crises' are the ones that are fabricated to take our hard earned dollars away. Who do you honestly think is running North America? Politicians that are elected in an honest and forthright manner? It's big business and the biggest one is OIL!!!! Do you think Haliburton is doing so well because they're a bunch of nice guys doing you a favour supplying fuel for your vehicles and homes? THEY"RE INVOLVED WITH PEOPLE KILLING PEOPLE TO MAKE A PROFIT!!!!!!!
Stay away from cheap laminate flooring. It's horrible for nicks, scratches, and its a pain to replace a single piece if something(WILL) does happen. I still like real wood and tile. Cork is another product that I'm interested in, although it is a bit more pricey. In the end you'll have to look at what's out there and decide for yourself. There are some good laminates available and they are expensive. Real wood isn't a bad choice overall. It's warm, easily repaired, stainable, natural and not out of this world for cost.
I've often wondered what the next craze will be in flooring and wall coverings. Maybe I've spent to much time alone.
Syncrude, Suncor and others in Ft.MacMurray, Alberta. Just a few hours north of me. There are other parts of Alberta and Saskatchewan that also have oilsands that have yet to be measured. It just wasn't as cheap as conventional drilling was up until a few years ago. We have NO oil shortage. It's just a scare tactics to sqeeze more money out of the consumer.
Heidi has a point. I live in Alberta and we see no real shortage in the near future. Russia alone is relatively undiscovered as is the Artic. Offshore on both our coasts are undeveloped fields that have barely been touched. It's really only the easy and cheap oil that's running out. I've worked in the industry and have a number of friends still in it. Technoilogy is advancing and these more difficult areas will sustain the planet for years to come. It'll just be more expensice to us, the consumer.

Yes I did.
