So the information was fairly safe (joe couldn't figure out the pass word)...But his gut reaction was he was on to an earner... So he phones the editor of some tabloid and sells his story.. The two of them cut a deal...Joe gets a couple of quid and signs a paper to keep quiet about every thing until the paper hits the street.
Then the Armani suit brigade with the dark glasses go to fleet street and take back the laptop.
Now if you a concerned about the informtion held about people and 'big bro'...thats another ball game...

Atheism, by definition, is the absence of theism. If you cannot say "I believe in a Deity/God/Supreme Being" then you are an atheist. If you are not a theist, then you are an atheist.
I believe in a diety..call him/her god..gandalf...merlin..george..who ever. I don't think that the christian religion has a monopoly on 'god'..any more than any other religion can claim to lead to the big man in the sky. And because I believe in a diety makes me a believer not a christian.

..the reason christians quote the bible to defend their position is because they are christian...if they followed another faith they would more than likely use the the doctrines of that faith...
No one needs to follow a sect or religion to have morals....But for 'a group' of people who haven't a vested interest (atheists) in the subject(religion)..why waste time and brain space in futile disputes. As an atheist and this is only my interpetation of what (atheist) is they don't believe in any form of diety...
I agree when people feel 'hounded' they generally come out fighting...the best form of defense is attack..one of the laws of the universe..
The reason why christians discuss the commons points in christiananity is as you righty pointed out...they have things in common.
People generally disscuss things that interest them, not the other way around. Although in fairness to your point talking about something that 'you' know very little about to someone who has a greater knowledge on the 'subject' is how we learn.

Cro..for the record, i'm a bad catholic, my oldest daughter follows the jewish faith and i have cousins who are protestants and we all get along like a house in fire and no-one within my family tries in any shape or form to force their beliefs on each other....

I fully understand and accept you are an atheist and you put your points of view across clearly....And I take them on board. I myself have problems with the catholic church. But I don't think that people who follow one religion or another are wrong..or out to do 'evil'. I know many good catholic priests, who follow thier beliefs in accordance to their religion.
My problem with cro is when someone asks him a question he either avoides giving a straight answer or takes the moral high ground..
Between the two of us I don't really care what people believe in as long as it's in the 'bounds of the norm'...and nobody gets hurt in the process.

So where does your problem with religion lie..? You've already stated that the Christian brothers left you alone...And you never participated in the class or at least thats my understanding of what you wrote...Maybe if you did part-take in the classes and voiced your opinions there, you may have learnt to accept other peoples right to believe in 'god'...
In my last posting on this thread, I rebuted your claim about 'not many schools in Ireland are not connected with religion'...but you for what ever reason didn't take into account your fellow country men who live in the north of the island...Why, because it doesn't lend creedence to your arugument or you don't think the North of Ireland is part of the island?...Although I will agree that that the majority of schools in the Island of Ireland do follow one religion or another...And to have a majority all you need is 50+1.......
In the north of our wee island there are lots of schools that have NO religion taught in them...(all in the name of conflict resolution)...
The island of ireland has 32 counties not 26.....

It seems theologians have had considerable influence upon shaping words to cause us to see according to their doctrines rather than what is plainly written.
It all boils down to what people believe...
My understanding of these threads either started by or added to by cro is he is very quick to critise people who believe in any religion and tell them they are wrong...
And I see nothing wrong with anyone going to their place of worship and believing in their diety..As long as they (the worshiper) stays with in the 'norm' of society...
Which is why i said repeatly to use the words right/wrong and not good/evil...And that way there can be no disputing, what he (cro) is trying to say...
And anytime cro is asked a direct question he either avoides answersing it or answers it with another question....simple maths state that 'a neg + pos=neg, while pos + pos =pos..,(i didn't forget about a double negative but thats positive)...
In other words it's easier to get a positive out come to a question (maybe not the response that you want), if you answer the question that was asked..
ie...by saying 'I think religion is evil because' opens up a can of worms...While saying 'I think religion is wrong because...' doesn't quite sound the same....
