I think having a third party that produced viable candidates for important positions in our government would be an excellent thing for American politics.
really, this is almost slanderous. it is completely unfair and untrue. I asked a reasonable question. the fact that people cannot engage in a discussion without attacking, name calling and so on is news to me, but I am not familiar with what goes on here being new. Still, i would hope a question could be asked and answered with some intelligence and decency.
Your attack on me "Open thread and pull trigger and keep going" is a perfect example of what I find unacceptable and what I won't participate in.
if this is the case, then I will bow out. I did not intend to start any thing like this and have no intention of participating in such. I find the he said/she said, mean spirited and name calling bickering repulsive and irritating and pretty much without any intelligence. I've no interest in participating. If my question had been answered in the spirit it was asked....but appartently that is not possible.
Questioning the caliber of a politician's ability to run a state or a country is not bashing or asking to start a fight. it is a legitimate question. That anyone would perceive it as an attack only confirms them as reactionary and hysterical.
Based on everything I have seen and read about her, I truly, honestly find this very difficult to believe. It is unbelieveable that American republicans cannot provide a better candidate.
CS forum members, and probably mostly those who read the political threads. Which is not an even distribution of those with right or left political leanings.
Thank you. That is somewhat helpful. Can you tell me then, without the hysterical partisanship I am getting in othe responses, why people think she would make a good president. Not in comparison to any other current or past president, but just a good as a president, her as an individual person and politician. Maybe we can show some people what real discussion actually is.
Also off topic. Has nothing to do with the question I asked in the OP. And it was a serious question, not an opening for me or anyone else to bash Palin.
Actually, this is not true. And your saying so does not make it true. Have a look at the poll results I posted on your thread that says he is a failure, which, according to most Americans he is not, according to the polls.
Saying stuff you want to believe does not make it truth.
I didn't bring Obama into this thread, so talking about him would be off topic. I also did not mention anything she did that was stupid, you did, asked for it to be mentioned. I also did not ask what made her a good governor but why people voted for her in the first place, how she got to such a high status and powerful job in the first place. Everything else is stuff you guys brought to this. You could have simply answered the question directly instead of getting in a huge tizzy and not being at all reasonable or thoughtful about it.
You guys keep saying she is feared. As far as I know, no one fears her, I surely don't. But I find her to be extremely under qualified to be considered as a potentially competent leader of the US. And she is an extreme embarassment as far as how the rest of the world views US politics.
You guys are being very reactionary and over sensitive. I asked a real and sincere question. I did not say she was an idiot. I did not say anything about her specifically or that I feared her. Only that I didn't think she was a very high caliber for a governor. So why not just respond to the question, as it was asked, in all sincerity?
I would rather have a specific answer about Palin and Alaska. My point was not that voters were generally idiots. I wonder, truly, why and how she became a state governor. How did she inspire in people the belief she would be a good governor.
I am curious. Does anyone know why this person was voted in as the governor of the beautiful state of Alaska? What did they think she would have to offer them? Why did they think she would be a good governor? Who was her opposition? Just wondering. I had the impression most governors were of higher caliber.
.... i'm undateable hahaha! ....quote]imo the only problem you have is thinking this....it isn't true... why would it be, you are an attractive woman, a nice person, a good mother....you just need to find the right guy and have some faith and confidence in yourself...
I had a long term relationship from 19 to 22 with a man who was constantly unfaithful. I was considered, at that time, very pretty and had no problem attracting men. So, whether or not a guy is faithful has nothing to do with looks. It has to do with the guy you pick and with your self esteem. If you look around, you will tons of couples who are, neither one, great beauties. Being beautiful has nothing to do with attracting a mate. It has to do with finding the person who is right for you.
Someone who is less attractive on the outside instantly becomes more attractive based on personality. I think looks are a big factor in attracting someone initially, but it is personality that wins the day.
There are so many to choose from. At the moment, at the top of the list, I agree with those who say GW Bush and Sarah Palin. Both painfully so, as they make America and Americans look like idiots too.
Millions and millions of regular people just like you with a mate, married, and having families. You just have not found the right person. Don't lose your confidence in yourself and that you are a good person deserving of love and companionship and all the rest. I think you just have not met the right person.
Your looks are pretty average and you are being overly self critical. Look around you, there are many couples, millions of them with people just like you in them. It is not so much about looks as it is about finding the right person for you, which is why, imo, real life dating is much better than online dating. Meet people in real life and get to know them before thinking about dating. Meet them at school or work or in other activites or groups. | think maybe your real problem is not looks but confidence about yourself and also thinking the only way to date is to approach a women cold without getting to know her first just as a friend or acquaintance.
Sarah Palin
