Adventure writing

(Before I write The Holden Arboretum part 2, I had an unusual Adventure on Tuesday night. This is par with life; sometimes the unexpected happens when you aren’t planning for it}.

After a long day, I went to the store and then one of my favorite spots to watch the sunset over Lake Erie. As dusk approached the darkening sky, the full moon rose above the skyline, one as such that I had never seen before. There were no clouds in the sky.

As the full moon ascended, the brilliance of its magnifying light increased into the evening.

There was a tavern just across the street from me. They took notice of this special moon also and walked outside to watch. I didn’t know any of these people. As the minutes progressed, we all sang Harvest Moon together. It was as if the man in the moon was singing along with us.

We have here the Anthony Sowell trial going on...serial killer that mudered 11 women and buried them in his backyard and skulls/body parts in his house...and the man pleads not guilty.

It seems more crazy to us now because of worldwide news and the internet. These events have always happened before, but we were not aware of these events until modern times.

RE: Silver&Gold...Dollar&Euro Turned Cold....?

...Gold and Silver...I was wise enough a decade ago to invest in the commodities market instead of the stock market. I tripled my investment and Gold is expected to rise dramatically again by year’s end.

True Fact:

We all have Gold and Silver in our possession with rings and jewelry, coins...

The major bar’s of Gold is still stored in Fort Knox, Kentucky USA. They have separate rooms for each Nation on the Gold Standard, where workers physically transfer each Gold bar to the proper room according to transactions.

How would you like to have that job?

Many consider Boxing as quite a thrill. I like amateur boxing the best, especially in the Olympics. Our professional boxers always start as amateurs.

I find Microsoft Office Word as the best software to use when writing. I always write first on Word, and then allow the program to check spelling and phrase composition before I post.

Hawaii; how some of us survived the Tsunami:

We heard the Sirens go off near dawn. In Hawaii, most communication is by radio, not TV. A neighbor called me about what happened in Japan. The Hawaiian authorities may have the best warning system in the world, so we knew that we had a few hours to prepare.

In my neighborhood, a group of us (a dozen) usually camp out about monthly on a Saturday night. The private property is owned by a liquor store owner that allows us to camp. The campsite is on high ground on an inactive Volcano and we faced the opposite direction from Japan.

I have a large travel van, so we all piled into it with our camping gear and emergency kits. I drove the 3 mile trek. We got there near daylight (when the Tsunami hit) and set up camp.

There was nothing that we could do but wait. It was going on
Saturday for us, so we caught up on our lost sleep and some brought pen and paper or laptops to record this historical event.

We could not get through to CS on our laptops because of weak signals. All of us brought crank emergency radios so that we could listen to the news and music.

As evening approached, the men went out to gather firewood and the women prepared for dinner.

We built a campfire and ate.

When it got dark, we stated to play games.

The first on was round table campfire. It goes from person to person in the circle and everyone tells a story…some tell Ghost stories.

Then we played the campfire game “Wink”. We used 12 sticks with 1 being short. The dealer hands out the sticks in a way that no one can see who gets the shorter stick and is the one that the rest of us are looking for. The object of the game is to go around and stare each other in the eyes with a poker face.

If you think that you have found the person with the shorter stick, you wink at them. If they are not that person, they wink back and you must lie on your back; and are out of the game.

We had plenty of this survival item because the property owner stocks liquor.

RE: Summer Reading

I love to read Biographies. I’ve read all of The Beatles, Rolling Stones and I’ve read every book about all of the US Presidents. I picked up a new book this week about the life of Judy Garland…such a tragic and troubled life she lived. It’s been difficult to put the book down because it’s so interesting.

I tried to water ski once. This was a difficult effort because it’s not only dangerous, but the muscle pulls… on the back of your legs hurts intensely the day after. The professional skiers will also use a kite to fly over the water. Much responsibility depends on the boat driver, as well as the skier.

The Squirrel

She came to me on a spree as I walked out my door
Her color and spirit I would adore
She nipped at my heels as I went to explore
I looked back at her, she wanted much more

We went to the Park and she followed intense
I thought to myself, it doesn’t make sense
At first I thought that she might well be dense
But she followed me truly in a post hence

I think that she thought that I might be a bore
And I thought to myself Why? What for?
She wanted to play and I could not say nor
This is a story that melted my core

She showed me the Birds and to show them a pence
We fed them till midnight until we were in winze
She followed me home very much with the gents’
Now she is safe, she lives on my Fence

The Holden Arboretum; Part 1

{In life, we tend to hold on to our beliefs and aspirations from what we experience. We love to laugh and hate to cry. These 2 emotions confuse us. Sometimes we hate to laugh at someone, and other times we love to cry and help others}.

The Holden Arboretum is a very large Nature Reserve in Ohio with hundreds of acres of land. Many walking trails are available to enjoy Nature.

The cat tail plants, that live on the edge of the Duck Ponds are beautiful in the summer and fall; rising up into the sky as if for the Sun to warm their feet.

A Visitor Center allows us to feed the ducks. They provide a wooded boardwalk and food that we can purchase and throw out into the water for the ducks to feed. (They love popcorn}. The ducks are funny when they try to engage each other in competition for the treat.

Sometimes the birds from up above and the fish under the water are active with the fun. They may have a Language of their own to let us know that they are hungry for what we may as people can provide for the needs that they ask for.

One of the greatest thrills is for the few men and women who are lucky enough to be chosen for a space mission. With all of the training and hard work they put forth, it must be a great memory and feeling for them.
