Hello Leigh,-yes,I´m sure it is...I´ve travelled across the East Coast and down to Texas, but it´s only a little part of that huge nation....So there´s much left to see.Personally,-I prefer the countryside,or small towns....
I believe you..As a matter of fact,-I´ve been applying for a Green Card/Work permission 3 times in just as many yrs,-but no luck..
But I have to be humble, and ask myself,-whay could I possibly offer the USA..So guess I´ll have to wait til times getting better....,and who knows,-maybe I´ll retire in Nebraska or upstate NY...
USA is a great nation,no doubt, but turning your question around,-are there thing´s that divide the Nation? "United",-is that meant on a national basis,or local as well....
Oh dear,-where are we heading....my oh my.....,if even the worlds most powerful organisation becomes inccorect....Surely,a shock to billions of PC´s out there,-and please, don´t cry....
23:d of July 2009,-Irelands Pres.Mary McAleese signed a law against defamation and slander,-a law against blasphemy to be more correct. The law also criminalizes anything that can be seen as degrading toward any religion,in speech or written...
The law says:"Anyone who publicises or speaks something that can be seen as blasphemic, shall be considered as a criminal, and if found guilty on these charges,-pay no more than 25.000 Euro in fine".....
Blasphemy is:"Anything that is humiliating or degrading in relation to matters that are hold as holy,by a majority of a religions followers, and that causes indignity beacause of that"...
Howeever, anyone charged because of blasphemy, can be free,if,:"A reasonable person finds genuine interest, such as artistic, political, scientific or academic values in this matter"
Phew,what a relief.....
2 yrs ago,the UN approved a resolution against blasphemy, but the resolution is not binding for member states...
But,the Pakistani ambassador to the UN,-Masood Khan, stated:"The OIC strives towards a binding resolution agains blasphemy, within 10 yrs"
In other words,-it shall be criminalized to criticise Islam as a religion, and also the representatives of this,(and other)faiths...
Shocking but true, the UN do not accept the demands,as UN´s commite for human rights points to article 19,-freedom of speech...
Krister thelin, chairman in the UN´s commite for human Rights says:"This document is a great help for anyone who fights for the freedom of speech"
Lawyer Percy Bratt, chairman of "Civil Rights Defense",makes it even clearer,as he says:"in an open and democratic society, peoplehave to count on to be criticised and mocked by others, who don´t shares their religious or cultural manifestations"...."You have the right to criticise and mock anyone´s religion or political views"..."It´s very important that the UN makes this stand"....
Indeed, but what a shock this must be,for the legions of PC´ers out there....
Well,-maybe a first step would be to pay attention, and craving harder punishments,-that´s done thru the voting....
And not focusing on mumbo jumbo news that we´re filled with..
And no,-ican´t save the world,-but yes, since you´re asking,-I´m deeply involved with envoirement/animal right grops,as well as having Godchildren in less developed parts of the world...
Not a saint, far from it,but I do believe action speaks louder than words,-and if we wanna change something, let´s do it...
By voting and making demands,or by joining charity orgs.,-or whatever.....
But,again,-I don´´t have the answer,-but a good start is to pay attention...
