mehtv: If you have a break up and your heart is broken so hard how long does it usually take to recover and become normal? May it take more than one year?

I think it varies for each individual person and a big factor would be if it was your decision or not. I think in that case, you've probably thought it all and worked through many of the issues in your head/heart and have come to the point that you are ready to move on.
Your partner on the other hand, may feel like they've been slam dunked.
No one can put a time on an emotion, especially someone else. We all deal with broken hearts in our own way. Just a suggestion, keep busy, be active, try to do things where your mind will be to busy to think about the break up. Be very active so you can fall asleep easier at night. Turn the page on that chapter of history in your life, only go back to it if there is anything that may help you to not make a mistake again. Mourn, it is a death of a relationship. So it's okay to cry or beat up a pillow but you need to move on, and only time will tell.

two weeks....maximum...
I am serious about this.
no use of mourning for a broken heart. life is too short. if it's not meant to be, it just isn't meant to be.

Hey Cara....For me, if I was able to get over a love a longterm love affair, I would think that I must not have loved him as deeply as I thought.
It's the same thing when someone dies. Should you show how much you loved the person in the time you spend grieving?
I'm talking about a longterm relationship that ended unexpectedly...should you show how much you loved the person by low long you are sad?
The answer is different for everybody. Some people can say the heck with it, and find someone else, and others will look at old emails and photos and cry themself to sleep every night. There is no set rule for grieving.

Just remember this...........
"hair of the dog that bit you"
A remedy that contains a small amount of whatever caused the ailment: “When Anne had a bad hangover, Paul offered her a Bloody Mary and said, ‘Have a little of the hair of the dog that bit you.’”
So when suffering from heartache get a little of "the hair of the dog that bit you" just as quick as you can muster up the courage to face the world again....
PS...most people dont need a year....possibly 24 hours... I think I just fell in love again...
i should be recovered by now i dunno why im not though. i was in a 13yr relationship and she passed away a long time ago at the tender age of 15. i think its cause of the songs i hear on the radio or stuff i see/do that keeps bring memories back.
