inside, with the air-con reading a good book. We have a heatwave in Perth atm, 10 days of above 40 degree heat, so I certainly didn't feel like venturing out to any Aussie Day activities.
I have been alone for so long now, raising my kids, and now even though they have left home now, I would find it very difficult to have a live-in partner, as I am so used to doing everything for myself. It may sound selfish, but hey, I deserve it now. Would just be nice to have a partner who has their own accommodation etc, and we meet up every week or so for dinner, social outings and a bit of the woompa loompa.
Renting is cheaper. I once owned a house with the ex, but when we divorced, long story.... I ended up with NOTHING because he blew it all on drugs. I raised our two kids completely on my own for the last 15 years, they are now adults and have left the nest. In no way could I have afforded to pay $750pw mortgage for a 2 bedroom unit here in Perth, so have remained renting and always had long term rentals, one being for 8 years, recent one I been here for 3 years and have a fantastic private landlady. She takes care of all rates, water and repairs when needed and I pay only $260pw for a lovely 2 bedroom unit within walking distance of my work, major shopping centre, movies, pubs, and other entertainment. I couldn't be happier as this has allowed me to be able to travel overseas for holidays.
My two children don't like each other (they are 26 and 22y.o.), so it is a little uncomfortable just us 3 sharing Christmas Day together. We don't see extended family very much, so I have put it out there on FB for us to all spend Christmas Day together, and receiving a positive response, so yeah, that's what I would like........ a Big Family Christmas get together
let's see if it goes ahead or not first curly. Whereabouts are you in Perth? My daughter lives in Scarborough, but she may not want me rocking up at all hours after a night out haha

my story, I have two adult children who just do not get along, daughter is 22, son is 26, their father is a total arsehole so he hasn't been in the picture since they were very young. Even though my son has been having treatment for Hodgkins lymphoma, and will be receiving the "all clear" very soon, daughter has refused to forgive him for when they were growing up together (long story, but son took out his depression and grievances on her). My remaining sister and brother are both 20 plus years older than me, and spend their Christmas with their children. Other family, nieces and nephews etc, well they keep to themselves, we only communicate via Facebook. So looks like me and my two kids will spend another Christmas alone together, which is difficult because they hate each other, and I end up spending the day on edge, waiting for a blow up between them........................ was thinking of cancelling Christmas Day this year because of it, and spending a day with them "INDIVIDUALLY".
just told him that, also told him that NO PHOTO, NO MEET, hehe, it is all quite amusing, he is quite stubborn. He is 22 years younger than me, how can we possibly have anything in common
OMG, I told him he was way too young, and that I am in my pj's, having a beer and just cruising the net, he says "age is all in the mind, and I think we would have a lot in common, can I come over to your place and have a coke (he doesn't drink alcohol) and we can get to know each other"
