Oh for the simple bygone days of yore. We had names such as Pompnius Mela (Roman geographer of AD 43), Ptolemy of Alexandria 100 years later. We need imagination in naming our children. Who can forget Jules Sebastion Cesar Dumont d'Urville from France who ventured 1700 miles south of Tasmania in 1841.

Although a bit presumptious is naming your child Charles Philip Arthur George with no surname. Then again, his mother's name is Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, again with no surname, and her uncle by marriage Louis Francis Albert Victor Nicholas George Mountbatten Oops, he did end up with a surname. And one of his relos along the way was Francis Albert Augustus Charles Emmanuel, no surname again.

Oh the colour we had engendered in our names. How long since we have heard the call of Bruce, George, Mary and Ann(e)? Where have Jennifer, Ruth and Elizabeth gone? And what about Claude, Guido, Guy and the likes? I had aunts named Violet, Vera, Veda, Ruby, June, April, Maude, Rosa, Daisey, Hilda, Shirley and the like. Even had an uncles Augustine and Cyril.

Maybe just a little. Please, one and all, accept my abject apologies for using an "Oh" word. While only being a short working week, it has been very stressful doing mid-year budget and next year budget reviews while every 2nd, 3rd & 4th person has the month off.
