The world won't end in 2012 - the earth will abide.
Now the human race, that I'm not so sure of...
As it pertains to a hobby of mine, I've studied yeast.
Yeast, when put into an environment with resources (sugar in this case) will consume the resources and will make more yeast. All the while the yeast produces a poison which will kill it (alcohol - bless their little hearts.)
Now it is always a race to see if the yeast will die of starvation - from consuming all the resources. Or if the yeast will die because the environment is poisoned. Now in either case I am sure all the little yeast politicians are claiming there is no problem (we will call them the deniers.) They aren't producing enough alcohol to affect the environment, and we will always be able to find enough resources - I'm sure they say.
Funny though, the yeast always die...
I bet before they all die, there are some crazy whack job yeast that try to point out to the politicians that the resources are running out, and the environment is getting poisoned (maybe these crazy whack jobs we will call green.) But it probably is too late in any case...
Yeast are simple creatures... but I find it tragically ammusing the human race is behaving exactly the same way as yeast...
No the world won't end in 2012 - it will take us a few more years than that to kill it... well, us...
But what a life - you can live in a fantasy world the whole time, making up whatever lies you want. He got to be an airline pilot (why anyone would want to drive a bus-with wings for a living I don't know.)
You would think they would understand they don't speak the same english we do... And yet people actually fall for these guys? They must, or they wouldn't keep trying.
Or I could always go the Warrick Capper look, with the gold lamme shorts (two sizes too small) and the tight t-shirt, also two sizes too small. (Hope my belly doesn't stick out as much as Warrick's does...)
lol... yes I have... Out of the 62 countries I have lived in (including England on several occasions) Australia has the best, though not perfect, system I have seen.
The people who don't like us (western white people) don't care if we are from England, the US or Australia. The hate us all equally.
You are right Wash, but you are forgetting that the US system was copied from the british. Both Franklin and Jefferson wanted a higher house, made of land owners with hereditary rights, just like the house of lords. Adams was the one who pushed for an elected teritorrial representation. Others had pushed for Washington to be crowned king, with the right to appoint hereditary lordships.
I would agree with you on this. I like the fact that no "local" politician can take ultimate control. There is a higher power, in our case the Queen. And as I said before, she acts like a circuit breaker.
As an example, the government is formed by consent of the queen. Had JG not been able to persuade the independants to support her last year, and the ALP and NLP been tied for power, it would have been the queen they would have had to appeal to...
"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)
The herd is made of individuals, and the herd collectively decides the direction to go...
I don't completely agree with any of the political parties, but some are closer than others, and my membership might change, albeit slightly, the direction of the herd.
Not getting involved means I have to put up, and shut up.
