When I've had to talk to employees in a large group, I carried myself to try to show authority, that it was my show, that I was in charge. I know it sounds egotistical and all, but I don't mean in a drill sergeant type of way. This always helped me, not so much to relax, but by making the others feel like they didn't control the situation, I did, and that attitude can hide your apprehension. However, keep things relaxed as well. Its a tough balance sometimes.
Granted, employees may have a different outlook than business owners in this type of situation, but the point still is that its you that has something to be seen or heard, you take control; don't let it control you.
"Another thing I noticed on the user group site is that NONE of the queries asked by users were answered by ANYONE at Microsoft. All answers were by other users. The site seems set up to pick users brains not to assist users (customers) in trouble."
Maybe they don't realize that not offering answers to their customers is about the same as saying they don't have any good answers.
I heard somewhere this morning that M$ is buying Firefox, wanting to offer open source software or something along those lines. Why not just improve the damn product they have now? Can't even imagine how badly that potentially could get messed up. We use Firefox, in part, to avoid M$ IE issues. I almost bet Firefox will lose users down the road if there is much tinkering with it by M$.
Our office has a Direcway satellite internet connection. The satellie box connects to a linksys router, then splits to 3 computers ( 2 hard wired and 1 remote ). Often the satellite box freezes, and we have to shut it down and restart it to get a connection again. Far as we can tell, all has been set up properly, no idea why this continues to freeze up on us ( 2 to 3 times a week ). Any ideas?
First of all, download another browser such as Firefox or Opera, or any other PC based browser, and use it when possible; most, if not all, are free. IE has too many security issues.
If you have a cable connection, you shouldn't have to go through AOL to get online, so I would recommend that AOL is not set as a default for connecting once you get the issues cleared up. You should be able to just open a browser and be online and avoid AOL if you want.
Contacting your ISP is usually the quickest way to solve any connection issues you may have.
I was just basing my post on the fact that CS was the only site that I was having problems with, didn't realize that you were experiencing this on other sites also.
The issue the other day was not due to Internet Explorer. I had the same problems trying to use Firefox, as far as images not showing up. The image problem happened right after CS did site maintenance. Sorry, you can't blame IE/M$ this time, much as you'd like to.
No shame in our responses. You asked a question and got honest opinions. If the world hates us so much, they can leave us the Hell alone and get by without our help. Call it arrogance, nastiness, anger, whatever. At least we have the freedom to express it.
Perhaps the USA should stop all foreign aid to all countries, kick the UN out of the States, end diplomatic immunity, stop all foreign exchange programs, remove all overseas military bases and personal, stop trying to eliminate terrorist actions worldwide, bring all military personal back to the States and place them as border patrol agents all the way around our borders, impose huge trade tariffs on all other countries, remove all illegal immigrants and end the flow of our money to other nations as well as end the economic drain on all Americans, and tell the rest of the world to go to Hell.
When I joined CS, I had no expectations. It was a "well, you never know" kind of thing. I had not dated in 2 years. Was ready to give up, but figured I had nothing to lose by being here.
CS has, at times, given me mixed emotions. So many wonderful women, surely someone was here for me. When things didn't happen, it encouraged my doubts. Then I would see couples meeting, a a bit of hope would glimmer again, then start to fizzle. Back and forth.
This week i received an email from a CS member. We've talked. We're attracted. We're not far from each other. It feels good.
"I'd love to know what it is that makes you vote Republican? Is it because you live in Arkansas? Bill Clinton excepted your state is heavily Republican isn't it?"
"When Dubya was elected president he inherited a budget surplus of $127 billion..."
Ummm, so why didn't Billy C. do something with it to help everyone in the way you are suggesting when he was in office? In his own words, "We could give it back to you, but we're not sure you would do the right thing with it". Perhaps the surplus was that large due to, say, the high taxes that Bush cut?
For some reason you seem fixated on Clinton in the past, while talking about upcoming elections, of which he is not part of. Seems you'd rather dwell on a president that went through impeachment proceedings, had an affair in office, lied to his country, etc., than promote any current people that would build a better country. Try convincing people by using current candidates and their plans for the future.
