Is a relationship the secret to happiness?

Very true and that also highlights that a relationship is all about giving, right?

Great stuff Trealach! One of the wonders of love and happinees is that they are one of the few things in life which actually increase when shared...

Is a relationship the secret to happiness?

thumbs up Definitely an interesting way of seeing it!

Is a relationship the secret to happiness?

I assume most people at CS are actively in search of a relationship (excluding those who are already in one).

But is a relationship truly the secret to happiness? Are people in a relationship any happier, any more fulfilled than people living a life on their own? Is this what we are all after or are we just following the crowd, simply too bored, or just after a little excitement on the side? hug crying

RE: Will I ever understand men?

well, i don't do that but if a guy does that it could be either he thinks the girl will make a scene or is not likely to take a 'no' for an answer so he may prefer to avoid the hassle or else maybe he was not too sure if you really liked him and he waits to see if you call him.

Mailbox issues?

thanks and good to know cheers

Mailbox issues?

hmmm that does seem a possibility

Mailbox issues?

no, last messages i'd recieved and read were a couple of days ago...

Mailbox issues?

yesterday i got 2 emails from CS in my external mailbox saying ”You have new mail at Connecting Singles”, yet there wasn't any new mail there when i logged in...

Any ideas anyone? Happened to anyone else? Or is it possible for the sender to somehow have deleted them??

RE: just curious to know what was the story behind your name on cs?

i spent a long time working in Athens, Greece and i was also kind of intrigued with the god of the gods earthly escapades.

As for the 911, guess it was rather an emergency at the time... yay

RE: Beautiful women can be bad for your health, according to scientists

damn right they're bad for your health... any of you guys ever tried taking a beautiful girl in a bar full of half drunk women-thirsty men? You'll be lucky to get outta there in one piece! doh

RE: character verses personality

A person's character is what distinguishes them from all others while their personality is really a projection of a common approved and acceptable norm within that person's immediate surroundings.

RE: trust on the internet

thumbs up definitely agree. Even if a person is honest and geniune, on the internet there's only so much you can find out. I had on online friend for years and i thought i'd known her well but when we met in real life i saw a different side to her which i couldn't have seen through chat and emails.

Also as most have said, good communication, gut feelings and above all common sense are all key.

RE: Which one you think is the most influential country in the world ?

ISRAEL because it holds the US by the balls roll eyes yawn roll eyes

RE: depression

yep dash, thats the right start... You also need some good friends to help you out or to just be there to listen without being critical or offering stupid advice.

RE: depression

well yes life is life and it has its ups and downs but no i never relapsed back to that. Now i'm careful to watch for any signs and negative things and take care of them before they get to me. I keep busy and active, take a day off when it gets too stressful and head to the beach or just sit down, have a beer and relax.

RE: depression

I'm not saying it was easy but it IS possible. When depressed you're in an apathy which stops you from reacting. depression tires you and see no way out. The thing is you're too exhausted and too weak to find that path and to fight back. Helping others shifts your concentration away from yourself and from that viscous cycle which keeps you trapped. It is the key to give yourself the chance to see things more clearly and give you the strenght to start to react.

Anti depressants don't remove your problems, they just try to hide your pain. It is you who knows those demons inside you and it must be you who must fight them back. Their are no magic pills and no magic solutions. But you must be determined to give it your best shot. I did it and won so you can all do it too!

RE: depression

that's a very long story but could be interesting for some here...
First i tried doctors and they just prescribed anti depressants. I'd read about their effects and didn't want to take them. Bought one prescription to shut up some ppl, took one but threw the rest away. Then tried counselling but didn't help much either. Had continual thoughts to end it all so i had 2 choices, either give in or fight back...
At that point i took a decision to learn more about the monster which was devouring my life. I started researching about depression and suicide. Next i came across an add for helpers to man a suicide helpline. I volunteered and was accepted. Did a 3 month course and the more i learnt the stronger i felt to face things. Once thru the exam and started the nightly helpline shifts wss the biggest breakthrough. Listening to others problems and trying to help them find positive things in their lives suddenly gives you a different perspective. You realize its not just you, that there always persons worse off out there...

RE: depression

yeah i've been to the dark side and i nearly stayed there. If anyone read my last post on the Most Deadly Moment thread i described this accident i had which left me with partial amnesia. what i didn't say was that it was no accident but an attempt.
I passed through the lot from deep depression, sleepless nights, anxiety, panic attacks, shaking, difficulty in breathing and a general sense of apathy. The nights were worst and waking up another reminder that i'll have to face yet another dreaded day.

RE: do you believe in "fortune" tellers people who can see ahead?

thumbs up thanks Barbara and cheers to you too! cheers

RE: do you believe in "fortune" tellers people who can see ahead?

yes i believe in 'gifted' people but not so much in the fancy dressed fortune tellers and their crystal balls or anyone else who makes a living off such things. A gift is a gift and you do not switch it on every time your next customer walks in.

Actually 'believe' is not the right word, i know for a fact as i personally experienced this on many occasions in my life and it wasn't someone throwing a wild guess either.
I'd tell you about it but i predict that an idiot will pop up to say it's a load of crap. After all a lot of people here aren't prepared to open their minds, they think they know it all and are just interested in forcing their 'fixed' ideas on others...

Guess thats why some of them ended up single after all... rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Most Deadly Moment In Your Life???

RE: if they dont respond to you in a week or so drop them?

well sometimes i try to respond immediately but as you say it's a busy and stressful life so at times i put it off for a couple of days especially if it requires a longer answer... so i'd say drop a gentle reminder, or a flower maybe before calling it quits? roll eyes

Do you feel obliged to respond...
