Good on the Navy. But tell us MBR. Outside the Navy would you bother Darning or would you just go buy some new ones. grin

But it is a skill that is required for a very necessary piece of equipment. Correct. I take it on manouvers a mending kit is part of your day kit?.

I can do the odd mending myself. Mummy Training. But it shows. Good thing its work clobber only.

RE: RULES FOR BEING HUMAN.

Dragon supporter. But only when the Wariiors are playingso badly I need to cringe and hide. Pre season is promising for the warriors. But then so was last year. we started 4 and 0 Then went downhill continuosly from there. laugh

Imagine

Overall You the Forum have said the little Girl has survived. applause cheering applause cheering

Imagine

Well to finish off I give my opinion.

I'd say she would die.

Because I don't believe we teach our kids correctly. I don't believe we teach our kids how to survive and cope in the real world. We smother them and try to protect them from the horrors that are really out there.

Australia is slightly different. So that background should be taken into account. Africa again is different. An African child I would say would survive, South American I would say would survive. European or NZ I would say would die.
Australian? But why because you have so many poisonous vermin. You have to train your children to be aware of these things.

But there are other survival traits that we (Generally speaking) don't teach our kids. And if I go listing them I'm going to get responses after responses saying you do or did that. But what about our children. Are they teaching their children. Each generation seems to do less and less in handing on life skills to the next generation. Even sewing and darning are life skills. But I'd be hard pressed i'm sure to find someone who can darn socks. My dad could darn socks. But i never learnt nor was i taught.

And of course there was the added consideration of a religious bacground. grin

Imagine

Well the woman make a stand and cast there vote. Interesting in itself.

Says there is a lack of creativity and imagination in the male psych. It also seems to say the male don't like taking stands. grin

Thank You Kawai and everyone else for your input.

Imagine

Not a lot of creativity there is there BJ. There were no what ifs in my scenario though until after the girl landed on this Island.

Then the What ifs pile up thick and Fast. And thats what you have to weigh your decision against. Are there more What ifs in favour of death or life.

If the life raft was equipped properly and functioned properly according to previous post. The child should be rescued in plenty of time. But there are still many what ifs.

Imagine

Perfect Shell. I read similar stuff. So you have the background to make a logical decision.

I believe (Although you don't say it outright) that you vote for unfavourable life expectancy barring outside intervention. grin

Imagine

Thats two for survival Toffee.

Religious background is important. But only in showing the bias of ones thinking.

Imagine

rolling on the floor laughing So God intervenes directly with those whom he loves and loves him back. laugh

Yep i can see the creatures of the island treating her like Snow White, supplying food, Keeping her warm, and showing her shelter. Whilst they wait for god to find another worthy Mariner to come rescue her.

So thats one for survival. laugh

RE: Is there such a thing as true love??

I believe in true love. Yes I Do.

But a Relationship is very hard work. And that ain't a cop out expression. Familiarity, Routine, Money, Work, Children, Boredom. All combine in various ways to throw spanners in the way we view and relate to each other.

I've been there. I know what I lost. I know what I was guilty of. But I wasn't the one who cheated. And I wasn't the one who called it quits. But I was still just as guilty.

Finding the right partner is never going to be easy. Finding the complete package I believe wil be harder still. But meeting the perfect compromise will be the hardest of all I believe.

Why.

Because while your looking around for THE right one. Your picking holes in poor "right now". And you treat poor "Right now" well poorly. Because your still looking for Perfect god made perfection. Perfect body, perfect manners, and god help us a perfect wallet. Because you don't want to be let down and hurt again; One isn't prepared to give "Right Now" a chance.

But I'm sure if that perfect partner is out there. You can believe they are out there also looking for the perfect partner. Are you that perfect partner?.

I'm not. Never will be. I have flaws. So I'm not after perfection. I just want to be accepted for me. Yeah true love exists. But I doubt it exists in your perfect mental image mate. Or anyone resembling your perfect mental image pin up.

Its finding someone you can accept. Happy to be seen with. Has acceptable hygiene and manners, Can hold a conversation, And worships you. Actually thats the key that last one. Finding someone who worships you. You don't have to worship them. You just need to be happy being in their presence. As long as you regard the rules of a relationship and marriage sacrasanct it will be enough I believe. And you can watch for the obvious signs of waning worship and open discussions on what is wrong.

Imagine

Your an 11 year old girl with said Background.

Are you going to know these things. Are you going to have the nounce to work these things out.

The Island could be australia for all the description gives one. The child only knows two certainties as far as i'm concerned.

1) She was over the pacific ocean when the plane went down.

2)She's on a beach with no visible sign or sound of civilisation as she knows it.

Australia is an Island. With miles of unihabited coastline. But the word Island (that was purposely thrown in) could just as easily be a small atoll in the pacific that disappears under water in high seas and shrinks at high tide. That is up to your imagination/scenario.

The life raft. I had the same thoughts as yourself. I know not what is part and parcel of a regular stock standard liferaft. But i know they don't come complete with an inboard or an outboard motor. So if you know as an 11 yr old (from that parental background) whats in/on a lifeboat then its yours to use if you think you know how.

I would debate that fact though. based solely on her Parental Background. But you (the responders) may say she was a tom boy. More her fathers child than her mothers.

Imagine

OK this is a tad different. It may Bomb.

Your an eleven year old girl marooned on an island. Your plane you were on crashed into the sea. But your Father managed to get you out of the plane with a life raft before impact.
As luck would have it you managed to scramble into the life raft. And then the ocean washed you up on an island. Everyone else on that plane went down with the plane.

Now the question is Would you survive?.

Background.
Your mother was deeply religious and anything not directly tied to the church was taboo. Your Father was a typical male (Female issues were never discussed) a lawyer by trade and backyard mechanic. And there you have what life skills you've learned.

The life raft is a typical life raft found in any small aircraft flying over the Pacific.

So would you survive?

RE: Things said

That actually stems from the miners. You know back in those early days when they wore candles on there hats to help them see. When a prospecter wasn't far from being a mad Hermit out there in the middle of nowhere trying to find their fortune in a crack in the hill to a hole in the ground. Not to mention those who had to work the chain gangs of the railway lines as they laid the tracks across Europe, Russia, and the America's.

But your right when it is used by those returning from a fainting or dizzy spell.newzealand

RE: RULES FOR BEING HUMAN.

You do realise that back during the Nineties they had 5 alcoholics on the team MBR.

Steve who do you support.

But I suppose whilst Ferguson is in charge everyone will despise our expertise.
And unlike a lot of Chelsea Fans. I have been United since the late seventies. Back then they & Liverpool were one of the few teams we saw on TV or came over the early morning radio broadcasts. So I have History as a supporter. smitten

RE: RULES FOR BEING HUMAN.

MBR; Kitty; I love my league as much as i love my soccer.

Me I support the Warriors (Of Course) Its not really fare. I have to support my home team but they suck. There is something wrong in that management structure. They on sell some awesome players. Three years back they had a team that looked really promising. The next season they had onsold 5 of that starting line up. Makes you cringe.

Actually if I weren't so loyal I'd either Support St George or Balmain.
Why because they have great Mascots. Imagine Dragons or Tigers all over the walls.
The Tigers always have superhot Cheerleaders. Or is it just the colors highlight the girls better.
Oh and both teams have a great history.
But I'm Loyal so go the Warriors. sad flower
