I like some of Ron Paul's positions on issues. He did run as the Libertarian candidate in 1988.
He is too libertarian to be taken serious by most of America. And really, Ron Paul has no interest in keeping jobs in the USA. As you know, libertarian thought proscribes free markets without restriction. It is a race to the bottom with the money Libertarians. Jobs will leave even faster if we took an approach like Ron Paul's.
His stances on civil rights and the war are spot on, however.
And his takedown of Rudy at the last debate was awesome. Guilani just looked like a fearmonger.
Ok, call me a nerd, but I enjoy some good science fiction!! I have been watching that Battlestar Galactica show, and it's pretty good so far. I always liked HP Lovecraft books, does that count as SF?
But the Star Wars movies (4-6) are just about perfect. I hope that we never get like that though.
I like Bill Richardson too. I know he's not as smooth as Obama, but he has the experience to do a good job.
I have not been too impressed with the Democrats. Obama never says anything of substance, I think he'll flame out when the real policy talk starts. He just doesn't have the experience yet. In 8 years, he'll be a good one.
As for the Republicans, I'm pretty amazed that Guliani is doing as well as he is. 3 marriages, pro-choice, and has supported gun control. But he is a crazy person when it comes to terrorism. McCain sold out to the religious right, and Romney is a mormon. (I know, i doesn't matter to me. But the christian whakjobs will make a big deal of it.)
I heard Fred Thompson is running now. Just another old rich white guy. So he'll probably get the nomination.
I will say this, I have been lucky enough to have traveled all over the globe. I know how people feel about the USA, and how they have felt about the USA in the past. ( really, if I have to endure another "bush cowboy bang bang" joke, I think I'll go crazy), I will say this. I do love my country, and I think it has the ability to be better. I think nationalized health care is coming, within the next 10 years.
Oh yeah, I never said I was from Canada anytime I traveled. I always hated those backpackers from the US who slapped a Maple Leaf on their backpack. I like the USA. It can better, sure. But really, it'sa pretty nice place.
Now and then it keeps you running It never seems to die The trail's spent with fear Not enough living on the outside
Never seem to get far enough Staying in between the lines Hold on to what you can Waiting for the end Not knowing when
May the wind take your troubles away May the wind take your troubles away Both feet on the floor, two hands on the wheel, May the wind take your troubles away
Trying to make it far enough, to the next time zone Few and far between past the midnight hour Never feel alone, you're really not alone...
Switching it over to AM Searching for a truer sound Can't recall the call letters Steel guitar and settle down Catching an all-night station somewhere in Louisiana It sounds like 1963, but for now it sounds like heaven
May the wind take your troubles away May the wind take your troubles away Both feet on the floor, two hands on the wheel, May the wind take your troubles away
OK, One of my favorites........just the beginning, as the Aeneid is quite long. ;)
Arms, and the man I sing, who, forc'd by fate, And haughty Juno's unrelenting hate, Expell'd and exil'd, left the Trojan shore. Long labors, both by sea and land, he bore, And in the doubtful war, before he won The Latian realm, and built the destin'd town; His banish'd gods restor'd to rites divine, And settled sure succession in his line, From whence the race of Alban fathers come, And the long glories of majestic Rome.
O Muse! the causes and the crimes relate; What goddess was provok'd, and whence her hate; For what offense the Queen of Heav'n began To persecute so brave, so just a man; Involv'd his anxious life in endless cares, Expos'd to wants, and hurried into wars! Can heav'nly minds such high resentment show, Or exercise their spite in human woe?
