RE: Would you date a person with false teeth?

peace or really good insurance. But seriously, we all end up with dental work. Some sooner then others. It depends on how you lost the teeth, personally.

Looking for some ideas.

I'll look into it. Thank you for the idea.

Looking for some ideas.

Dietitians are available here. And when mom first found out about her diabetes we saw one. But I think dietitians are not covered by her insurance and she doesn't have the money to set up seeing one. Being in the US, many of the life style parts of medicine isn't always provided for once you leave the hospital or care home. And even then, they don't always provide the most ideal diets for their patents themselves.

Looking for some ideas.

Thank you so much. I had to shift gears for her. Since as I said my gran had this, but mom has different goals to focus on in regards to her health. In the end it's all the same over all goal. I'll look into google, but I'm not expecting to find too much more then I have already encountered. Thank you again.

That's a good point. We are working on what she likes to eat raw and what she likes cooked. Some things that I know are awesome we will have to get creative with.

As for the ground beef, I'm a butcher so we don't have that problem, luckily.

RE: Do white girls fall for Indian guys??

I have a friend of mine that is married to an Indian man. I think they are quit happy together. So yes. It all depends on the person.

Looking for some ideas.

My mother was recently diagnosed with congestive heart failure. My gran also had this. I used to cook for her, but cooking meals for mom is a tad different. She has a much more adventurous palate, and as per most of my family, loves food. And though I have worked as a cook and currently work as a butcher, I am looking for better footing when it comes to her dietary needs via what others have found to work. We are already looking into items she loves and thinking of changes there.

But as I said, I welcome the experience of others. What has worked for you or a loved one? Maybe a few recipes that might work, they just need a tweaking (I'm not too bad at that)? Any products you have found that help a lot, or advice you've gleaned? Thank you to all who reply and offer some advice. I greatly appreciate it. hug ~ Aly

P.S. We are omnivores, but mom isn't against eating vegan recipes (not big on tofu). But really, any recipe is pretty much welcome......and most especially if there are some good sweets that work for heart healthy diets. Thanks again teddybear

RE: Your views on organic food?

I think I saw that same program. I know a similar thing happen in California too. It was in an Afro-American neighborhood, I think she replaced one that had been bulldozed over the previous year by some company that wanted the lot.

RE: Your views on organic food?

The problem with the US is it's size. We are so big that you need several organizations to achieve something like this through out the country. Where as most other countries its not as difficult. As it is we have our community gardens, but I wish it were bigger or in a couple more spots, but I live in a very farm supporting and hippyish area. I now that in highly populated areas the community/urban gardens are so much more needed and would be awesome if they could have one with in every 5-8 block radius. Even if those lots where on top of a parking garage, that's putting some green where we need it.

I can just imagine the lobbyist and govt bs that would happen if D.C. tried to create a law for community/urban gardens. Omg the leaches would ooze out.

RE: Your views on organic food?

Very true. We need a community garden culture in this country. No matter where you are, there should be community gardens close by. It doesn't hurt the economy, and people would be much healthier.

RE: Your views on organic food?

Yeah, it's impressive what party food means else where. It was pretty much the same when I studied abroad. You ate good food. But good food was also affordable. Now of course that was in 2001, but 5 cantaloupe was about 1.50$.

RE: Your views on organic food?

I think I remember reading a study where parents with hyper active kids switched their diets as a natural treatment as opposed to drugging their kids. I think there was a significant drop in hyper activity. Plus there is this shoe in England that did a test where they threw a party for two groups of kids. One had typical party food (chips, candy, cakes, etc) and the other had healthy food (hummus, carrots, fruits) and then engaged them in party games. The sugared up side had more hyper and aggressive games, plus less patient kids, verses the other side. I find that telling.

Okay, seriously, your fireworks are giving my dog a nervous complex.

Ya know I've thought about that. I think if we had more thunder storms and fireworks I would invest in it. We usually only deal with this maybe twice a year. And extreme thunder storms maybe once a year. Usually I fix a place for them to hide.

RE: Your views on organic food?

So I work in a food co-op. (Basically a health food store) and I am in the meat section learning cutting and more. I used to cook in the same store. Organic is okay, but there are loop holes. Always pick local, you can speak to the local farmers and ranchers. See what they raise and how. And then have a better feel of what you should expect your food to taste like. Keep in mind that just because organic has all sorts of rules and stipulations doesn't mean that that is really 100%' especially since the main corporations and lobbyists have gotten into making money off of this "fad".

As per your other question, is the current conventional food killing us? Clearly. If you eat an unadulterated plate of food (pile on as much as you usually would) you'll notice you don't necessarily eat as much. All the chemicals and sugars in other foods trigger cravings. Real food. Like my grandparents would have had, doesn't. You can't stop at one potato chip because off all the naughty stuff on it. Which is how people end up eating a whole bag.

Okay, seriously, your fireworks are giving my dog a nervous complex.

It amazes me each year how many people end up with illegal fireworks in my area. We have a couple of reservations not far away. I even have property and a rent on one, but I have never gathered the nerve nor ovaries of steal to bring them off the res. WTH! Two dogs hunkered down under my bed (I really wish I had a crate prepared, need more room), and another dog practically on my head over the artillery shells being fired off..... And it's only the 3rd. I my be bald by the end of this week. Oh an did I mention the dog on my head is a pit mix. sad flower
