Jeeez....I fell for this story and you had me in dreamland!! That was sooooo wrong Dandy!!! I pictured you looking like a movie star, drooling over the yacht, thinkin about WHAT the dinner was with the wine, and OMG....so funny!
Paddy, in my case, Jason DID test the waters, so to speak. He would deliberately create an issue that he KNEW would annoy me but one that his Dad would fluff off as "boys will be boys." He used to instigate arguments between his Dad and myself. At first I let it roll off my back like water off a duck's butt....until I sat down with him and we had a heart-to-heart.
Paddy, I hope you meet someone who will adore your son as much as YOU do. THEN there won't be any problem! I was in a relationship after my divorce with a man who had a son and to this day I'm as close to him as my own....and his Dad and I are still friends after our 10 year relationship fizzled out. Keep lookin for that special woman. You'll find her.
Please everyone...I shouldn't be making jokes about this because it IS a serious question, and a GOOD question. Paddy deserves to get the good answers he's getting. Honestly...children are "always" the most important issues in a relationship and THEN should come the adults and theirs.
Thank you dio! Having experienced it, I know first hand that it CAN BE DONE without anyone's feelings getting hurt! Take care of the kids and take ME on a trip to Vegas!! Wooooooo! Works everytime! (JUST kidding!)
I think it should be your children BUT a tactful man would be able to make it happen without the new partner feeling she's coming in 2nd. How's that suit ya Paddy? Good answer? Hammmmfppfghghhla...and you thought I was just another dumb blond!!
I'm fairly new (just registered yesterday) and I really like it here but they don't have a place to "Edit" a post. I'm always screwing up with typos and don't catch them til AFTER the fact. Makes me crazy having to leave it.....so everybody ...... please screw up so I don't feel stupid!
He never admitted he was gay and seemed to accept my 2 or 3 excuses when I declined his invitations to go out. TWO YEARS LATER, I was a volunteer at a local Home Show. WHO SHOULD WALK IN verrrrry chuummy with a GUY!!! YUP...you guessed it! Mr. Macho/FEM! I wanted to puke! HOW COULD I HAVE NOT SEEN IT SOONER?
YES...it DID!! Talk about fooling ME!! All he wanted was someone to socialize with and be seen in public with a woman. Don't get me wrong, he was fun, we had many laughs, BUT after a month it was ME who wanted to take our relationship a little further. He backed up like I was covered in donkey doodoo!
Rac, I've been single for FOUR years and, as you said, "here I am!" I DID have an internet love interest two years ago that lasted about 4 months and the whole time I thought he was manly yet feminine. How could someone so macho be gay? WELLL....he WAS and it took me tooo long before I realized it and told him, "bye bye."
May YOU be a lot more fortunate and find a perfect match!!
Hush...ya better tell your mate (I think it's room-mate here in America) that he shouldn't be telling women he's a head chef UNLESS he knows how to make Chicken Piccata or a great Caesar Salad or SOMETHING to impress her!! It's not good to tell little white lies because they always come back to haunt ya!
Okay...can I change my mind???? I sounded sooo self-centered and I'm not. (I just plain take care of myself) Okay...so I admire Mother Teresa AND Princess Diana for the work they did for those less fortunate and they SHOULD BE my role models! HOWEVER, since I love dogs, horses, cats, and any kind of animal, I admire anyone who works for the ASPCA, animal shelter, PETA, etc. I admire them so much for helping so many unwanted and/or abused animals.
Paddy, I think it's better to chat on-line for 2 or 3 WEEKS before you exchange phone numbers or arrange to meet. I met someone for lunch after chatting constantly for a WEEK and OMG...he was NOT what his profile pic looked like, he was more like 5'7' than 6', his sports car was a Camry with spoiler!! I was totally disappointed. His wit in person didn't come across half as funny as he was on-line, which was another odd thing! I sort of wondered if someone ELSE was posting for him. Needless to say..it didn't work out!
Diane Keaton! We're both about the same age and I think she looks great! Most people in their 60's let themselves go and look like overweight piles of wrinkles! WHY???
Where are all the posters here? I chose "SPORTS" as the category hoping to attract a few men AND women who might like to talk about baseball or football!! I'm a die-hard Red Sox/Patriot fan! I also adore Tony Stewart and play golf. What's YOUR favorite team and what sport do you play?
An added note: I do NOT believe this board is so dead because Kentucky is a HUGE state!! There have to be LOTS of single people who are bored to death and able to chat on-line.
****leaves the room hoping SOMEBODY replies*******
DREAMER...your mother is 74 and checking out the website to meet someone? WOW!! I'm impressed! Nope...can't agree with you that age is only a number. MY number is UP!! haha ...I'm pretty much thinking that at my age the good men are taken, gay, or looking for women in their 20's. At least it's fun to come here and chat with reasonably sane people in the same boat as me!
Good luck jlewis!! Hope it'll be a perfect match for you both! MY weekend will be filled with housework, laundry, watering plants, let the dog out, ironing, let the dog in, doing my nails, buying groceries, and exercising!! Fun, fun, fun!! Lord, I need a life!!
Welcome to YOUUUUUU and MEEEEEEE!! I just signed up today as well, mostly because I was bored and not because I thought there'd be a chance in he// of ever meeting someone special. At least it's fun to chat with others who might be bored, alone, or just plain loaded with too much free time on their hands!!
Good luck to you!! You're young enough that YOU could meet the perfect woman here!
Marie, I agree with you .... ROBIN WILLIAMS! The man is insanely funny, beyond quick witted, and I think he's from another planet to be so hilarious! LOVE him!
I wouldn't do it! At least chat with her for a WEEK before deciding to meet her. Just my honest opinion, but good luck, no matter what you decide!! She COULD BE Ms. Right!!
