Pain - how do you deal with it?

Random thread here...

Ever had a sort of pain that you know is more or less harmless but really persists and their's nothing you can do to make it go away, like a headache or a toothache etc.?

What do you do to make it more bearable besides an OD on morphine?!?!

RE: How much 'right' needs to have Mrs./Mr. Right?

Mmmm, an interesting topic here, I'm surprised there isn't a bigger response to this yet...

Anyway I think this can be explained by comparing people to chemicals?!!? Its not really about imperfections, but rather how people react to each other. Some chemicals like potassuim are more volatile than others and therefore their matches will need be more carefully chosen than other more placid chemicals like water. Other chemicals are more dangerous when added the wrong way around like water to acid instead of acid to water!!!

RE: why do people lead you on in a relationship lets say..........

I think the majority of people want the best of both worlds sigh

I don't think anyone would truly do it to avoid hurting the other person, most people are too selfish to do it for that reason alone...

RE: is this a irish site or what

I think the novelty just wore out to be honest, there were also far more regulars on the site last year. Also people used to post a lot of personal stuff on the forums & Ireland - being a small country - some people got burned...

RE: is this a irish site or what

Maybe the novelty's worn off or something - maybe people have just moved on to the next best thing... Would love to know what it is??? And please don't tell me it's bebo/myspace/facebook etc. Can't stand those sites!!!very mad

RE: is this a irish site or what

Would actually love to know the stats on this - I remember a time when you posted something on the IE Forums and it would take an average of 5mins before you got a reply, and you'd be almost gauranteed that at least 10 different people would post something on it in one day. Now it seams you can post something and it could be days before anyone even see's it... confused

Where is everyone???dunno

RE: is this a irish site or what

There was a time when this site was very lively, when you could log on almost anytime and there would be loads of people online who you could chat with etc. But I think that time's come and gone now dunno

RE: Break ups!

Well Mayo midfielder, I agree with most of your post, but I think the duration of the relationship should play a big part in the method of ending it. If its a short fling then the silent treatment is probably the best way, I'd its been a few months then a face to face confrontation is appropriate, a few years then its a serious boardroom style meeting & if its marriage then leave it to the courts hahaha!!!

RE: Break ups!

Seems to be the standard way to dump someone nowadays dunno
Especially if it was just a short fling...

RE: can u love 2 people at same time?

Sorry - meant to quote this post from the one above...doh

RE: can u love 2 people at same time?

Buttering + Bread + both sides comes to mind...

Cant work - You end up with dirty hands...scold

WEATHER!!!

Yeah seems like they were making a big fuss about nothing too unusual for this time of year, some places did get it bad, but here was no more than a bit of wind and rain.
We are in the eye of the "storm" at the moment so tonight might get a bit interesting as it passes over...

WEATHER!!!

Yeah I hope it's not gonna be too bad - biggest danger it being hit by something that's blown down etc. Will probably suck getting to work tomorrow with trees and other stuff blocking the roads/railway lines etc.

WEATHER!!!

Well the Met office was talking about 170km/h gusts, so far a just walked around the outside of the house and tied up anything that looked likely to take-off, checked that I have a torch with batteries... Anyone else have any good ideas???

WEATHER!!!

Apparently The worst storm of the winter is about to smash into Ireland and the UK! Trees will be up-routed and there will be wide spread devastation! wow

What are you doing to prepare for this?

uh oh

RE: Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooo

You over for the 6nations clash at croke park tomorrow? Will be a good laugh no matter what the result!!! Hehehe!;)

just how scared are women?

Guess it could be said that most men are the same! All that crap about men being "programmed to spread their seed" is totally assumed - in fact men, just like women would like to be with the fittest possible (by saying fittest I meen that in every aspect and not merely physical) female they can attract. But what urban life has done to some extent is devalue us as individuals - why look after something to make it last when it's just so damn easy to get a new one?????

Dunno, I think humans have developed a way of living that has far surpassed our evolutionary abilities...

just how scared are women?

Yeah I agree with this, there is definitely a difference between city and country culture. I grew up in a country town and only started city life when I started college.

I think when there is such a large pool of people it is harder for a girl to feel comfortable meeting strangers. And then you get those girls that are comfortable enough to do it and they would most likely be enjoying the wide variety so much that there is little chance they'd wanna get tied down to just anyone.

just how scared are women?

Well I reckon dating sites are actually a waste of time if ur a guy in Dublin, I sent out 10 messages to girls here and got no replies, then the same amount to girls out in the country and I got a reply from 8 of them!

I think I'll head back out to the pubs - at least there you have a chance...

just how scared are women?

Just out of curiosity - how afraid are women of meeting up with a guy from this site? I can't help but notice how much mail I'm getting from women in the country compaired to women in Dublin or wicklow...

It seems that maybe women feel more comfortable talking to guys who they know live further away because there might not be as much pressure to actually meet up.

Is this the case or not? Would girls choose to email a guy who's further away just to avoid the pressure of meeting up?

RE: Body Language???

I haven't a clue when it comes to my own body language! I probably either have none or a very bad one...

When I'm out at a bar or a club there is something about other people that gives away a bit of their personalities tho - dancing for example, you can tell about a persons confidence levels by how they dance...

RE: What men want!?? Please contribute!

Haha! That's an easy question!!!

1) A good job where they earn more money than their friends
2) A better house and car than their friends
3) A better, hotter, smarter wife than their friends have!!!

Basically men are competitive creatures so as long as they are one-up on their fellow men they are happy...

grin

RE: Is it best to let her walk away??

If the distances are such that u can facilitate seeing each other once a week then I don't see it being much of a problem. However I fear the fact that you are even asking questions like these suggests that you aren't sure about the relationship.
To put it this way - if I ever feel doubt setting in over whether I can trust another person then I feel its best to let it go...
In the early days of a relationship its important for both people to let each other know how they feel and not to let the other person wonder. If a girl is making you feel like u are second to her ex then let her go!

RE: Dating today...

I'd say woman are probably better off having more independance, men on the other hand are being forced to adapt to a society where they no longer have so much say in these matters. Is it a good thing? Probably yes because at least people can now be together because they want to rather than because they need to.

Are single men less attractive to women???

So there is hope for single men yet!applause

Are single men less attractive to women???

Thanks for your opinions, would question your answer to #5 tho - everyone forms opinions to a certain degree, its just human nature. As for #1&#2 - they also have to do with forming opinions, which again is something everyone does.

Are single men less attractive to women???

Got this one from the int'l Forums - thought it would be interesting to get some women's opinions on this one!

1) Would you trust a man more if you knew he was married?
2) If a guy told you he's never been in a serious relationship before would you trust him less?
3) Is being in a relationship a sign of quality in a man?
4) Would you hit on a guy just because there are other woman showing interest in him?
5) In a club if you saw a drop-dead-gorgeous guy getting rejected by another woman would you reject him too if he came over?

RE: just dont know what to think

I have a new founded philosophy about "putting friends before love". You see, when I finished studying most of my guy friends were single like me, we used to go out and do what single blokes do - surf, play rugby, get drunk and of course scout for chicks! However I do remember the time I had this girl who was dead keen on me and I liked her a lot too, but I never spent enough time with her cuz my mates kept calling me with plans everytime I was gonna go do something with her... Well to put it this way we broke up because I wanted to spend more time with my mates than with her - the logic being my mates were there before she was... Well as fate would have it when most of my "friends" had hooked up with girls and I was still single who do you think was the one being stuck at home on a Friday night??? Me!!!

The moral to remember is most friends will only be there when they need you, good love is hard to find and if you pass an opportunity for the wrong reasons you have only yourself to blame if another one doesn't come along when you want it to...

RE: Why do men prefer slim girl to full figured women

Well I never said anything about dimensions - only what appeals in the shapes and curves(.\/.) hehe

grin

RE: whats the best place to meet people?

Probably somewhere where people go frequently to relax from their daily routines - local pubs, sports clubs, hobby clubs, activity clubs just to name a few (or cs for people who are too lazy lol)...

Anywhere where people are away from their daily routines and their usual group is good.

Holidays are a good way too, provided you're not looking for anything long-term.

cheers
