RE: What song best expresses you reason for being on CS.

RE: Religion

In the past religion brought structure to societies - it made rules and regulations and brought order to chaos. It kept people under control. It also gave people the belief that our life and existence was meaningful and it helped people endure many hardships they encountered in they everyday lives (life was much harder in the past than it is now). It also made people feel like they were the part of the group, that they belonged. It had many purposes. Nowadays, we have laws, we can search for the meaning of life ourselves, there are different ways to experience the same sense of belonging...

Still, religion stays a very important part of the national and cultural identity for many people. Even if people aren't really religious, even if it is just the tradition, it's still a very important part of who they (think they) are. They define themselves through it to a certain extent - some more, some less. So, if someone sees themselves as a "Christian" or "Muslim" or "Catholic" or whatever - you cannot simply take away that from that person. Telling people things like: "You are silly to believe in 2000-year-old books" or "Religious organizations did numerous crimes in the past", etc. only backfires in most cases. People fight even more for their religious identity than they otherwise would.

Religions are old and conservative and they need time to change. They do change slowly. Churches become more liberal. Maybe those are tiny steps and most people don't even recognize them, but they do happen. Believers also change. Most people are "traditional believers" nowadays - religion is more a part of cultural and national identity to them than something they truly believe in. Things do change, but slowly. The same as societies or anything else. After all, have humans really changed in the last 2000 years? Aren't we biologically practically the same? We did make some progress. It's not much, but the time period is short...

In general, religious discussions - both between members of different religions and believers and atheists require a lot of knowledge, tolerance, open-mindedness, good will, patience... On forums they usually become nothing but fighting and accusing and nothing constructive comes out of them.

RE: Religion

That's true, yet Buddhism also has all sorts of beliefs incorporated - for example - the belief in reincarnation. The idea of God itself isn't very important - personal self-realization (enlightenment) is. The philosophy is also a very important part - so many (especially Western) people tend to think that Buddhism is more philosophy and less religion.

It also creates the feeling of belonging, being part of something bigger than us. smile Although, I think that nowadays more and more people tend to have their own spiritual path or they simply understand the religion they belong to in the way that is most comfortable to them. Sometimes I think that there are no two people in the world who have the same idea of God and spirituality, no matter what religion they belong to (if they do at all). Spirituality is actually pretty individual and personal. smile

Simply block the unwanted messages without replying.

RE: Religion

I was listening to some talks with Dalai Lama who said that there was no real reason for a Western person to become a Buddhist, since everything he was searching for in Buddhism he could also find in Christianity. Although on the surface religions seem very different, basically they are very similar. All of them teach people how to become a good person, have (more or less similar) important sets of rules (don't kill, don't steal, etc.), teach that there's more to existence than this life form and that there is something/someone that transcendents us (God). Religions are just different paths to the same source. But, of course, many people are more interested in the surface and formality of religions than their essence. Or - the religion is just a part of their tradition, identity, something they belong to and it defines them to a certain extent.

RE: Warning To Muslim Men Who Writes Message To Me

Most people who use CS as a dating site don't read forums and blogs. It's pointless to leave a message for them here. Men who wrote to you without reading your profile are often scammers. They send the same messages to everyone hoping that someone would reply.

RE: Food & Drink.....What do u prefer.....?

Chicken prepared in any way possible! smitten

My mom told me that I would wake up once and realize I turned into a chicken. laugh

RE: Opinionated - We don't have a shortage on Cs....

Compared to some other discussion boards I've been to - CS members aren't that arrogant and don't put down people in the way I've seen people do on other places. It happens from time to time, but it's not that common or often as I had the chance to see somewhere else. I personally don't follow political, religious and similar discussions, so I don't know what it's like there - but on these "general threads" most people don't seem arrogant to me.

RE: Have u got any Pets.....?

I'd gladly take your unloved and unwanted crying crying crying kittens, but I'm not in a situation to have a pet right now. blues I might move soon and wouldn't like to get a pet until I sort that out.

Why are the kittens so wild?

RE: If you could re-engineer the human body, what would you change?

I watched it a few days ago. thumbs up

RE: American Men.....

People always seem to think that you talk about CS and its members when you write something, as if there's nothing else in the world apart from this place. I don't know why is that... There are other forums, discussion boards, Facebook groups, all sorts of places where you can join, meet people and have all sorts of experiences. Not to mention real life people and places.

I won't talk against CS, don't worry. smile

When people spend too much time somewhere, they start to feel as if they belong there. It becomes another home to them. It doesn't matter whether the place is virtual or real. It means much to them and one should respect that.

If someone talks against their "home" they get hurt. They take it personal.

I think that forums mean more to people attached to them than actual members of the place. People come and go, but the forum stays. It's always there. I learned this on another forum. smile

RE: If you could re-engineer the human body, what would you change?

It would be nice if we could transfer our brain into an artificial body. Then we could choose to be whatever we want. We wouldn't need to be humans at all. We could be an animal or some fantasy creature or imagine a being of our own. daydream

RE: American Men.....

I've always thought that American men are the least demanding of all men, that they give a lot to a woman and ask almost nothing in return. I don't know how and why I created this opinion. confused

RE: Have u got any Pets.....?

No, I'm still catless. crying

RE: Dealing with losing your hair

It would be nice if some men posted a profile photo - Lee, Lookin, Bnaughty, deviant slice, nonsmoker (who hasn't been around lately) - to name just a few...

RE: To start over, at middle age.

Wherever you go - you take yourself with you. You can never escape from yourself. smile

It's good to have a backup plan and to be able to return if things go wrong. Don't burn all your bridges. smile

Good luck! wave
