RE: Why do most guys want to date WAY younger women ??

i don't know the answer kitzer but plead guilty.

subconsciously maybe because i want more children but i'd hazard a guess that its the same reason many woman have desired ages starting with their own and going upwards on their profiles.

having said that i don't actually take any notice of what i put on my profile - i'm just delighted if anyone takes the trouble to contact me. addicted to the red box popping up; if it dispensed chocolate as well that'd be fantastic

RE: Is distance a factor in who you choose to mail??

1 - 2 km: shout very loud
2 - 10 km: semaphore (bin lids six counties)
10 - 30 km: smoke signal
30 - 50 km: marine 2 way radio
50 km plus and inter-country: email

RE: what do women look for in a guy these days then??

personally i like a big bum. not the size of cork (county) but a good handful certainly

RE: what do women look for in a guy these days then??

you an me both dodge, not sure if we had it removed at birth or we've just been careless and lost it somewhere along the way.

not sure about these lists that are coming out though - honesty is number one for me and i'd claim to be considerate and attentive but men like me don't seem to do as well as those that are macho, domineering and selfish...

RE: going south

been making some enquiries, on the phone to one of my son's aunts (from ballyfermat) says its completely normal to her. she did mention the hygiene thing though, seems dublin guys have a bit of a reputation...

RE: Should religion be taken out of schools?

pah, you're all the same, just after one thing...

RE: Should religion be taken out of schools?

pierce brosnan is in mama mia ?

can he sing or is he just the eye candy ?

RE: Should religion be taken out of schools?

well the church of england has been trying it recently but as they're a pathetic rump no-one is listening.

don't agree that churches generally do good with money - they accumulate most of it. vatican is phenomenally wealthy and the church is still a huge land-owner in ireland. the church of england doesn't own a great deal of land cos the monarchy took it off them. despite lopping off a king's head we haven't got it all off the royals yet but our time will come...

RE: Should religion be taken out of schools?

rolling on the floor laughing christ, nearly wet myself. had to bite my bottom lip cos i didn't want to have to explain to the boy what i was laughing about

RE: Should religion be taken out of schools?

yeah funny that, i've just entrusted the boy the the cbs here because its the least religious of all the schools

handyrex:
"if ur an athiest then u subscribe to a core belief: atheisim=the doctrine or belief that there is no God."

i beg to differ. its not a belief, that's the point. as a scientist i don't believe anything until i have proof. if someone proves that a god exists i will believe it.

of course no-one ever will. those that believe in a god explicitly don't want to prove anything because they have adopted faith instead. those that have no need for the concept of a deity would no more set about trying to prove it one way or the other than they would stand on their head at a bus stop.

my view is that religion is something that happens inside someone's head. if they externalize it and use it as a basis for effecting change on the world then its politics. i therefore regard the catholic church, church of england, judaism, islam etc etc as political and economic organizations... indulgence anyone ?

RE: One for the ladies.... to fake it or not to fake it what shall it be????????

what's not long now ? who's been talking ?

RE: One for the ladies.... to fake it or not to fake it what shall it be????????

yep. pity it wasn't all good mumbling
mind you i'm looking forward to being really old because then you can do the most outrageous things and just say "i'm 82 you know"

RE: One for the ladies.... to fake it or not to fake it what shall it be????????

think i have to count in decades now very mad

RE: Wait till you hear this...........Dominoes Deluxe.....

absolutely. (course you realize i'm only posting on here cos i don't have the bottle to join the knickers thread...)

RE: Wait till you hear this...........Dominoes Deluxe.....

well i do but then i'm a foreigner

RE: Wait till you hear this...........Dominoes Deluxe.....

yeah, go for it. similar thing happened to me in tesco once. i was thinking about going back at the same time the next week and then i said "pull yourself together man, that's daft" but i've always regretted not doing so, what did i have to lose ?

RE: Which is the loneliest night of the week?

any night my son's at his mother's mumbling

emigre's gardening tip of the day

think i'd still be lying there, it was a vicious blow

emigre's gardening tip of the day

don't leave your rake lying on the ground, tread on the business end and receive a sharp blow to the wrist.
and yes it did hurt crying although probably not as much as if my wrist hadn't been in the way and i'd got a good whack on the side of the head instead...

gardening done for the day, retired injured.

RE: Dose Age matter when it comes to love?

no for god's sake don't do that... i find a plunger usually does the trick

RE: Dose Age matter when it comes to love?

very succinctly put.

my ex was 4 years older, never bothered me. when we got together we were 28/32, both just started teaching so i just never thought about it. i think although men often would like a younger woman, especially when they are middle-aged very mad it comes back to the things discussed on the "do looks matter ?" thread - i couldn't enjoy being with someone if we couldn't connect and that requires at least some shared experience of life.

RE: Sure what would I do without myself..........

tessylatease ! brilliant name
makes me rather embarrassed for using something so boring and utilitarian

(sorry to crash the cork thread, other side of the country)

RE: Question for the girls,

so glad, thought that was just me.
i'd disappoint on the politics front though - i might be middle-aged but i still want to rip the head off the system although i suppose i'm more of an armchair socialist these days, don't think i've been on a demo since my son was born...

RE: Question for the girls,

fascinating - i used to have "intellectual" on my profile but i took it off because someone told me it sounded pompous and would put people off... you can't win. i would like to have "looking for someone with an intelligent outlook" but people often think, wrongly, that that means you have to be highly qualified.

RE: What are you views on dealing with mixed messages?

i feel for you, shabby way to treat anyone. were there not any hints before, though, that he might not be a very considerate person ? i know it can be easy to see just what you want in people, though. took me years to realize that my ex was an habitual liar...

RE: who are the greatest men and women that ever lived ? and why ? tell us about them !

there was definitely migration of celts around 300 bc but no-one is actually sure they came to ireland in any significant numbers at that time.

the ir are referenced in greek writing from the second millenium bc though so your king might have been called ir but he didn't originate the name.

apparently british celts are thought to have originated in the basque country which is also where the last neandertalls ended up...

RE: who are the greatest men and women that ever lived ? and why ? tell us about them !

indeed. some historians question whether the irish are of celtic origin at all. i do know, however, that the greeks knew the people of ireland as the ir long before 300 bc so if the story is true the dates need adjusting.

RE: who are the greatest men and women that ever lived ? and why ? tell us about them !

no offence to gilly but this has veered onto something more interesting so i'm joining in.

i'm with patrick, a chap called jesus hailing from nazarus did certainly stroll about palestine at the time in question but it was a very common name (still is in south america), as was preaching, ditto getting crucified. new testament of course a highly edited selection of many texts compiled two generations or more later and subsequently altered dramatically, for instance declaring women to be second class citizens.

for my money spartacus was a much more inspiring figure, fought the roman imperialists to a standstill and must have given hope to the oppressed of the roman empire everywhere.

rhyming couplets

and your next opening line ? (that's the easy part, you haven't got to think of a rhyme)

rhyming couplets

here's how it works.

first person posts a line thus:

poor old jimmy, he's a bit of a fool,

and the next person posts a second line, could be

its a damned good job he's hung like a mule.

and then posts another first line for somebody else to complete.

here's your starter:

my love, 'tis like a sharpened sword,
