I think, if the break up was not related to feelings, something will be stronger when back together.
I did the break up, because I was ruining us both, financially and from that, of strength.
Breaking up would set her on her path again of career, friends and future and me to go completely into making a come back as a normal working person.

Well, she did, and I did. But neither of us got into any new relation, we kept in touch, since it was her advice and cool sense of right that I fell for in the first place and I did not want to loose that part. But we live 3500 km apart so meeting up was not happening.

That bit sucks big time down here. Then again, you do rarely get sick at all. Insurances take care of the rest, but I counted to 35% effective cost of taxes and insurances here, it really is a lot of overhead in Sweden (and Denmark, who now passed Sweden...)

Still, a lot of that tax pressure is born in Stockholm, and not much reach the outer regions. I have not seen Kalmar since 87, but I do not think much changed in sense of service and such.
It is an expensive system to keep running, but probably a good choice to have the kids grow up.
