Laughter is the best medicine and lifts the spirits....

I have come to the Irish Forums everytime I am down because you have all always lifted my spirits and left me with tears flowing down my face ...Candy has made me nearly pee my pants....

I know that you are genuine wonderful, down to earth, caring people here.....thank you for putting up with me...

Worry lines are etched deep in my face
As I wonder what I am doing in this place
Tissue being probed
Pent up thoughts I'm now releasing....


Two short weeks ago things were just fine
Not a care in the world, feeling sublime
Then by accident as I was covered in a rash I found these lumps
Not really that big, merely a bump....


Scared...to be on the safe side, to the doc I went
He probed and he frowned, I knew what he meant
He sat for a moment, stared straight ahead
I listened real close to the words that he said


'They could just be cysts, all fluid filled'
With those words my heart some what stilled
Off for a mammogram that's where you'll go
No sense in worrying until you know...


The mammogram was joined by an ultrasound, blood tests and a fine needle aspiration....
I once again listened real close to the words...
Now we have to wait and see

NO SENSE IN WORRYING UNTIL YOU KNOW...
MAKE UP MY MIND NO NEED TO WORRY FAMILY COULD JUST BE CYSTS....

The two soldiers that were killed were not from the Engineers..

They were British serving soldiers with a regiment based in a Barracks at Antrim and due to be posted to Afghanistan...

I am afraid having lived in this place.....

Comments by people who do not know what they are talking about is dangerous...

What gives me the right to say this is I lived in Antrim for
nearly two years with a step father who was posted there....

Loose tongues cause trouble....

Most people there are lovely, friendly and kind there...

It is a great place to visit...

The leader of Sinn Fein has said today the people that killed these guys are not members...

Remember there are lots of different groups and blaming people will only cause friction to a peace process and devolution that was working...

Hopefully it will be a one off...

I lived there during the troubles, when Belfast had barriers around the city, cars where stopped and checked, security forces on the streets, you checked your back garden and under the car from a bomb...

The people there in general are lovely and just want to carry on there everyday lives in peace....

I totally agree with you Dru...

But in somecases you go to email that person privately and by the time you get there they have blocked you...

So you have two choices you can either take it to the forums or just ignore and forget and move on...

I would pick the ignore and move on....

What does that tell you about the person that has blocked you...

They either want to cause drama on the forums, can not have a civil private conversation to work it out like two mature adults or want nothing more to do with you....

They think it is great and big to argue on the forums so not worth knowing anyway.....

I think we all have to try and remember this is not the real world but internet world until we actually meet the poster in the flesh....

What I think gets to a few is that one thing maybe said by a person in a private mail and then in a thread they will say something totally different...

I think this is a strange medium to communicate and we all see our opinions sitting typing on a keyboard unlike when in actual company you see a persons facial and body language etc....

I also think many people would not be so brave in the flesh as they are sat typing on a keyboard and that they may use the keyboard to vent their anger at something that has upset them personally that day....

We never really know a poster until we meet them in the flesh....

We do tend to have a very dry, sarcastic sense of humour....

I find when I am in the states I have to go slower...my Dad has to remind me that they do not always get my quick thinking replies....

Some of the sitcoms in the States I just do not get at all and I think why are they laughing...

Okay Stress I have worked out the perfect cleaning rota for you...


Use the same cup and plate all week and wash it on a Saturday...

Lay all your dirty laundry upon the car and power wash it ...
Two jobs in one done.. car and laundry at the same time....once a week....

Anything that needs ironed put underneath the bed matress....

Blow torch the bathroom once a week on a Saturday....

If you need to shower and shave go to the local swimming pool...

Live on pot noodles and ready meals ....no cooker to clean and pots and pans to wash....

Bribe your kids with pocket money to dust, mop the floors and they can slide all over them in their socks to polish....

All you have to do then is clean the fridge which only contains ready meals and beer so easy for sell by dates and no spilling...

Just change your bed once a month....throw the old linen away and buy a new set....

After reading Stressfree's thread about his housework....

It made me think...do we ladies like our houses in more order than men?

After living with say a man for years who did very little or next to nothing in the home....is it now great to have your own space and have things the way you want them...

Not having to put up with fetching, cleaning and carrying after a person...

I am now learning that if I want things done in my home....I have nobody to depend on but myself and I am learning to turn my hand to most things and getting real satisfaction when I have completed or fixed something by myself.....

Have any of you ladies found some tradesmen take advantage of a woman by herself by charging to much or doing a poor job?

Do you keep on top of your household chores or let them mount up...

Different standards and ideas for different people....

Stress you only put your dishwasher on once a week it must stink

and think of the germs building up in it.....

Bodleing this is a woman by herself who works, is raising kids almost single handed, shops, decorates,does the garden, Vinny has even taught me how to change a plug by mail here and I just like a tidy house and it keeps it up to date and after getting rid of a slob who did absolutely nothing in the house for 17 years but sit there like Alf Garnet....this is my house the way I want it... clean, natural and tidy...

I am going to try and lay a wooden floor by myself....

Workmen just take advantage in general of women who live by themselves.....

Oh by the way I cook a homemade meal every night...

Doing the house work is a good form of exercise....just think of those arm muscles.....six pack...

Clean your fridge or you will get food poisoning....



Tea towels are the things you dry dishes with....

Buy a dishwasher and put it on once a day...

Clean out your microwave as you use it....

You are a minger(Scottish word) if you only change your bedlinen once every three weeks....

Laundry.....

easy every two days .....white wash......dark wash....

As you know because you have lived alone for years....

Really hate the ironing get the girlfriend to do it....she loves you she will iron your shirts...

CLEAN YOUR FRIDGE!!!!!

I know you can cook before the thread goes up.....
