The European culture is an evolution of a few centuries of history.
Within it, were periods of colonial imperialism embraced by various nations today part of the EU. The atrocities committed by European nations in their quest for dominion, are so vast and plentiful they are too many to name.
In the so called conference of Paris of 1885, it was agreed to split the African continent to reap the riches it contained. In the following twenty years, more then 90% of the land mass of the entire black continent was transferred to colonial rule by these nations.
And look at the mess that excise of extending civilization by imposition left behind.
My own country was subject to this dominance, and up until 1967, we were still a British Colony.
WE KNOW what imperialism=dominance means because we have it in our genes......we have lived it and come to smell it, feel it, and sense it in any form. And also thankfully, Europe has faced up to it's past....and in unison the voice is one......NEVER AGAIN.
With all the rhetoric, logical, legal or whatever form of argument anybody here can place, it is going to be extremely dificult for you to diffuse the impression that the modern day ideology presented by the US is one of utter dominance and imperialistic.
It lies on the same level of Communism.......the control of the many, by the few.

The US is not made up of the super race. The concept of freedom and democracy that were once the pillars on which the US was created have been corrupted.
The US cannot continue to impose it's method of doing things on the rest of the planet.
Democracy cannot be imposed. And the gravity of trying to legalize an act of aggression for the sake of domination of planetary fuel reserves by calling it 'freeing' a nation is perverse.
We agree entirely...referring to my first post on this thread I repeat that is seems the planet us undergoing another swing in it's pendulum of climate change in the millions of years of it's existance....
...and humanity is just too young to understand what it entails....we were not around the last time it occurred.....and we just don't know anything about it......we can only make conjectures....
But the amount of chemicals that we are pumping into the atmosphere is more or less what had been eliminated from the air of the planet over millions of years. Billions of tons oil which originally was CO2 in the air and forests filtered in the millenia to eventually be stored away as carbohydrates.
We are reversing in two hundred years what took years to clean out to make the planet livable for us. The huge amounts of energy we are displacing into the surrounding atmosphere. It like heating a pan of water.....the more energy you put in, the more violent the boiling will be.
Our climate acts according to those same physical laws. The least we can do is take it seriously enough to try and steer human civilization towards existing with renewable energy sources utilizing non polluting methods.
We cannot....and we must not....say it's not a problem and carry on like it never was......we just can't.
To all those still desperately trying to convince all that the occupation of Iraq by the US was a gift sent from heaven to the population of Iraq..........
First we had the excuse of WMD, now it's dishing out democracy.....
An occupation will always remain what it intrinsically is.....an act of aggression.....applied by corrupt greed of corporate rule that justifies the disregard of the human factor for the sake of making money.
It will never be justified....not now.....not in the future.
OIL is the only reason for the invasion of Iraq.....and the paranoiac quest of the US to retain control of the larger chunk of the world's fuel supply.
Just as is was convenient in the past for the US to back and arm Saddam Hussien to go fight the Iranians........it was just as convenient to remove him once he nationalized all the oil industry and turned his back on the US.....
It is not democracy that instigated the US to occupy...but sheer imperialistic greed.

While you seem to see evil in the slightest hint of left wing ideas in a government.....I tend to see a greater evil in the total capitalistic ideals adapted by your country in particular.

Scientific evidence and studies are showing that climate is becoming erratic.......sort of kicking things and then splutters again.......
example....the Ninio phenomina resulted into entire sea population of sea lions to move from their historic breeding grounds, centuries old.
example.....due to slightly warmer temperatures in the Med and the artificial human addition of the Suez Canal, marine life within the med waters is changing. Certain species of Red Sea creatures are now norm within. A few decades ago they would not have suvived...now they are taking over the original fauna of our sea....it's changing....even our seas are saying it.
example.....there has been a very strong increase in the population of jelly fish in our waters for the last fifteen years...some years worst then others....vast shoals of million of jelly fish....
and we have no idea why this is happening....what we do know is that it is......
things are showing us a very erratic planet right now.....and we don't know which way it will take....all we can suspect is that some very hefty changes are on the way...and we will have to adapt or disappear.
The concept of Global Warming is just one of the many scenarios possible.......within the bigger picture of a Global Climate Change.
We know for scientific evidence that the planet has had various oscillations of ocean levels. Global warming or not....that may very well be happening already. International bodies such as UN has to look at the possible future of coastal populations around the globe that will have to be displaced.
There already was a case of a small ;population of some islands I believe have been given permanent status by Australia that had to be evacuated since their atolls have become uninhabited.....a few hundred if I remember correctly.
Storms man contain more energy stored within them, becasue we are putting it there.......energy doesn't just disappears....it transfers itself.....storms will be more violent then they are today in a few more decades. Again....they may not....we don't know.....but we have to be adaptable in case they do.
And that will dictate we change the manner in which our civilization functions to date.
When my oranges in my garden for three consecutive years have flowered in autumn because the triggers that set off Spring weather occurred......something is weird with the weather Sparks.....even the trees are saying so.
If the evolution of this planet we live on were to be considered as an hour on a normal time clock.......humanity is only the last four seconds before the hands touch the hour.
The oscillations of climate changes that this planet has undertaken are far beyond the possible memory of man. Humanity has no experience of a planetary climate change. We didn't exist still during the last one.
So we don't know what to expect. We know nothing of the intricate triggers that bring about such climatic changes. We can only foresee scenarios with what knowledge the scientific community can supply us with. And considering we know very little, we can only provide conjecture.
Further, our pumping up million of tons of CO2, which had been removed from the original atmosphere of the planet over millions of years, and throwing it back into the atmosphere in a milli period of 200 years.
So we also have throw an accelerator into the formula.
The immediate sensible thing to do is use our technology to alter our energy needs from fossil fuels to renewable. We must.
It might not turn the cycle of climate change that is in any case occurring. With or without us, it would have still occurred probably.
We have just made it a little bit worst. If we at least can stop doing that, then we may concentrate of adapting to the immense changes that will be occurring within the next century or so.
Not necessarily catastrophic ones......but certainly that will dictate a change in the manner we perceive western civilization today.
Because you haven't....produced Democracy that is......what the US HAS done is imposed itself on the country and the world by it's taking over unilaterally the decision to invade and occupy.
If you had liberated Iraq, you wouldn't be huddled in closed tightly secured compounds and traveling around the place in heavily armed convoys.....you would be cheered and welcomed in the streets by the normal average populace....

Don't think so.......still get impressed by some of the newer bands that keep on evolving as time progresses......the overall texture changes.....but the excitement of the performances shows still infuses enjoyment on listening to them play......
example.....lately I have discovered and been listening to Kings of Leon.......they somehow passed the same thrill as when I hit in a very young Springsteen way back in my youth.....
