The Lisbon Treaty provides that the next Commission will have one Commissioner per Member State. It envisaged that from 2014 the membership of the Commission would be equal to two-thirds of the number of Member States, unless the European Council decided unanimously to adjust this number. As this was identified as a key issue of concern in Ireland, the Taoiseach raised the matter at the December European Council. It was ultimately agreed, that should the Lisbon Treaty enter into force, there will continue to be one Commissioner per Member State.

To give away the right of the people to decide on issues affecting the people is a sure fired way of becoming a voice in the wilderness.

All EU citizens should have a say in this treaty..

Thanks be to God we still (so far) have the right to have our voices heard unlike France, The Netherlands and any other member states that did'nt give their people that right....

Well what can one say folks...except Thank God we're alive and well as we approach the new year..
And with all the trouble, strifes and deaths here in Ireland over the last 12 months lets not cast to oblivion the memories of dear acquaintances and fond friendships we built up over the last year. A time of sad memories for some but a time of GREAT EXPECTATIONS for most...
So lets be just that little bitextra careful throughout the comming year...
Just a tip I picked up somewhere or other...
What with the popularity of the mobile phone..Most everyone's got one or two and in many accidents on the roads one of the most common things found at the scene is a mobile..Maybe no way of knowing how to contact or indeed who to contact...

So lets all make a New Years resolution and add an "ICE"!! number to our list of contacts..
ICE = In Case of Emergancy..
ICE1...ICE2...ICE3 if need be

Be it a wife, husband, brother, sister, mom, dad or someone you would like to be contacted...It would make life a lot easier for people to be contacted
Lets hope we never have any need for it to be used but its best to be prepared...

Sorry for dragging on and on..
