RE: What scents/smells bring back good memories for you?

the smells of countryside living on a farm and horses (now I am not talking about their deposits). The smell of saddle soap for the bridles and saddles. Beeswax for polishing floors, the smell of an open fire roaring and my mothers cooking.

RE: Athiest's blieve

A few weeks ago the JW's came knocking on my door for the umpteenth time. Yet again they were disturbing my researching and I saw red - still, I tried to be polite in telling them I would gladly discuss my Atheism for something of a change - they havent been back in a while this time - it must have been my reaction to the dimwit who said "just before we go can i ask you where you think little babies come from"[/quote]

Yes i heard that one before. Babies come zooming in from outerspace on little comets.rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Athiest's blieve

My father set the standard at home during the 90's there were numerous religious people of all sorts knocking on the door stating their case. Now this method was let them say their piece for a couple of minutes, interject with "If you give me £10,000, I shall become one of your followers" Since then, they just by-pass the house.

I got collared by the Scientologists a little while back and they asked me if I would take a stress test, well my reaction was in typical good old looney tune style, I left them standing and went on my merry little way. thumbs up

RE: Athiest's blieve

One woman in particular who denounced her religion being Ayaan Hirsi Ali, originally from Somalia, moved to Holland and made a life for herself, and to say it was a struggle for her would be an understatement.

RE: Athiest's blieve

Because his true purpose here it to try and convert someone to believing in his religion and voice them at the same time. thumbs up

RE: Athiest's blieve

Very true, without any kind of following there is no control or power to be had over others.

RE: Athiest's blieve

Now you really are talking cajones!rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Athiest's blieve

Many religious people have crossed my path throughout my life due to where I have travelled and worked. Now I have discovered that the true believers do not try and convert others as this is borderline on extremism. Not one of my Iraqi friends has tried to convert as this is not in their interest to do so. Why because there are actually some people out there on this planet no matter what religion they are respect others for their own beliefs. So how about you respecting other peoples beliefs here. And if you are able stop trying to persude others your religion is right, because just like any other it has many flaws.

RE: Athiest's blieve

Plus you must not automatically assume people have not read the Quran or even been educated. What we chose to do with the knowledge that we gain from reading any religious texts is entirely up to ourselves.

RE: Athiest's blieve

This thread seems to me it is becoming about one persons belief in their own religion.

RE: Athiest's blieve

In general you will find religious people out on the streets, knocking on your door, posting leaflets through the letter boxes more so than people who do not follow religion. Why because they are not interested in trying to convert people.wine

RE: Athiest's blieve

Aethists do not reside in darkness and this is propaganda in a subtle manner.

RE: Athiest's blieve

You have completely missed my point. One great thing about aethists is that they are far more accepting and respect the beliefs of others.

RE: Athiest's blieve

Control being the operative word, praying on the vunerable, uneducated and people who perhaps have lost any kind of direction in their lives.

RE: Athiest's blieve

When threads like these are posted I generally find not many will actually discuss, but just want to sow the seeds of their own religious beliefs and propaganda. Such are not prepared to listen to others and debate in a reasonable manner because their minds are closed and some are just completely brainwashed.

RE: Athiest's blieve

The truth being we are all different and believe in what the hell we like. Look truth up in the dictionary and there is no reference to religion or aethism.
