GJ hotty Dawn, but it actually says a day IS AS a thousand yeare etc... I{ find that the IS AS is extrememly important in understanding that the writer is not actually saying that a thousand years IS a day and vice versa. In the bibles that show the exact translation form the greek you see the same principals involved.
I dont know why in the world this would even be discussed in a serious way in a place of "higher learning" unless is was to study how urban ledgends get started because the reality of the falsehood of the claims is so readily available to anyone who takes even 5 min to look.
Other than that I can only encourage you that there is more to life, to every single one of lifes questions there are good answers, even to questions about suffering and the seeming "unfairness" of life. The problem we face is trying to find the answers on our own. all of us on our own are incapable of finding the answers, for one question brings forward 10 more questions. It is a pickle no doubt, but what I have found is that the seeming hopelessness of actually having these questions answered is not an accident. It is meant to be that way so that we get to a place of humility and re realization that we cannot find the answers. It leads us to looking outside of ourselves and from leaning on our own understanding. The saying, seek and ye shall find holds true, for anyone that honestly asks for the answers will be given. Yet the motives must be pure and without a pre-concieved bias that may keep you from looking at certain possibilities. An honest and fearless self appraisal is also neccesary. The seeming impossibility of learning the true answers is neccesarry to bring us into a submitted, humble and honest state of mind where we can truly be taught.
I have read pages and pages of the myths of mithra, Isis, osiris, and horace. Also, many many wikipedias and various googles on the other supposed myths that non-beleivers try to say reflect the accounts in the bible. I purposely do not go to christian or atheist sites when researching. I go to where the actual stories are so that I can read them as they are in raw form, or to where they are described in encyclopedia format without bias.
Not insulted. She spoke the truth. There is a line between good and evil and there is no no-mans-land in between. Ignorance of the truth although one might not have evil intent is still on the side of evil in its ignorance. We all fit into that category from time to time, and in an overall sense because we are human. We need a savior every one of us!
lol, I never ever have told anyone they would burn in hell. I am keenly aware that I do not know what God will do in the lives of anyone. I have done my fair share of sinning. -I just want to point that out. I will never tell anyone where they will spend eternity. I cannot predict the future, nor will I attempt to. Even if you are a non-believer and hate God currently, I will still not tell you that you are going to hell because I dont know what God may do in your life 5 min from now, a year from now or on your deathbed.
All I have done was bring to light the exsistential struggles of all mankind and opened up lines of deeper contemplation toward an atheists thought processes toward God. Also I have debunked false claims that Atheist have used in here, as well as express what my own experience of God was.
and I have gotten mad a couple times and called a few guys who were really mean a couple names...I think everyone of us on these posts can realte to that...Just about everyone I have seen post on here has done the same thing at one point or another.
and dont tell me you have, because based on the things you say you most certainly have not studied the myths themselves. You have propably heard alot of false propaganda, but there is no way you could read the myths and say the things you say. It is an urban ledgend the things you speak of and a simple google will bring this to light.
RE: Christians....Do you understand this?
I find that reading the direct translation as opposed to the newer ones changes nothing. the bible still says the same thing.
