This is kind of funny in a way because if Computers go to voice all they'll really be doing is going back to the days of Ham Radio.
Or worse yet, party-line telephones!
Funny how technology will ulimately come full-circle. It will just me a much more complicated way of doing what we used to be able to do with a party-line telephones.
I'm glad you mentioned the camera. I bought a new camera last year and I want to start using it more this year. I'd really like to start taking before and after pictures off all the work I do around here.
Maybe if I make an albumn of before and after pictures I'll feel like I'm actually accomplishing something.
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with invention and technology in general. In fact, I love technology. I think it’s the greatest expression of human intelligence.
The problem isn’t with the technologies themselves, but with the greedy economy-based societies that use them. We take them all for granted and basically live in a throw-away society. Manufactures are hungry to upgrade and outdate older technology just to sell more products. It’s all about money and greed, it's not really about the technology.
Also, people seldom stand in awe when things work. Instead they get angry and complain when they don’t.
And like you point out, people use technology in rude and inconsiderate ways.
But none of that is the fault of the technologies themselves.
Just like it wasn’t the fault of the stick when the first caveman picked it up to use it as a club to beat someone with. Can’t blame technology for how mankind abuses it.
Briefs are much more pragmatic if I’m working. They simply hold things in place better. Wearing boxers can be hazardous to your health if you are physical active. If things aren’t held in place well they run the risk of getting squished.
For a more relaxed situation boxers are fine.
I always have plenty of both. No need to pick just one or the other.
It’s not a reflection of the human race in general.
This is a very common misconception.
People who are greedy and lust after power seek out powerful positions.
Therefore the people who are in power are the ones that make it look bad for everyone.
It is NOT human nature to be like those few who seek power.
In fact, the vast majority of humans are fairly meek actually.
You just don’t see the meek one’s because they aren’t in the spotlight.
I mean, what news channel is going to rush into people’s houses and say, “Look at these people sitting around talking peacefully in their living room!”
I mean, that’s just not news because it’s too COMMON!
The trouble makers are the minority.
Unfortunately they have the power that allows them to have control over the majority.
So the answer is NO, mankind is NOT programmed to destroy.
Not at all.
Most of mankind love life and prefer to get along.
Believe it or not, this conversation has me wanting to drive the 20 miles to town to get a super-sized Wendy's Combo.
It may seem strange too, but when I do that I really appreciate the meal. I savor every bite I thinking of the homeless and hungry people all over the world who would view a Wendy's meal as a major deal.
Oh yes Imbroglio! If I could have just snapped my fingers and made my shyness go away when I was young it would have changed my entire life drastically.
Of all things, that was the single most devastating thing for me. I was very shy into my late 30’s. And it was a very real thing. Not something to scoff at as being easy to overcome.
Unfortunately I've lived for over a half a century and I have yet to experience what you speak of.
They say it's never too late, though I must confess that at 57 my hopes are not exactly at their highest. Especially considering some poor health mixed in with that.
However, I do know a man who is 81 and has just met the love of his life and is preparing to marry her. Although, I'm not totally convinced that it's love. At least not on her side. The man is quite wealthy and she could just be setting him up to take him to the cleaners. Only time will tell on that one.
Fortunately I'm totally poverty stricken. If a woman claims to have fallen in love with me it will probably be true.
Of course, that's not happening right now so there's no sense in getting excited about things that have no basis in reality.
Well, just for the record. I think humans world-wide do a pretty good job of displaying apathy, complacency, greed and fear.
Americans don't hold the record for that.
The people in Iraq itself are clearly displaying their own disgusting greed and stupidity. The reason that Iraq is falling apart so bad is not because of the USA, but because the Iraqis within the country hate each other’s guts!
It’s their inability to get together and forum a consensual government that has screwed everything up there.
Not to suggest that Bush was right to go in, in the first place. But the Iraqis have their own greedy agendas to deal with. Same with Israel and the Palestinians.
The USA doesn’t hold any special position for being idiots. The whole world is full of idiots who hate each other and can't get along!
Nope, don't even try to pretend that the USA holds and special place for greed, etc. That's a total joke Alex.
I'm sorry, my previous post was in response to Kat. She said that it is always interesting to know others views, and so I thought I'd post mine (again).
It’s George Bush and his policies that they hate. And for good reason!
Nothing can help the USA until Bush is out of office. Bush really is America’s #1 enemy. Isn’t that they most ironic thing in the world? Our very leader is our most destructive enemy.
Hopefully, whomever replaces him in 2008 will have a persona and policies that will once again bring America back to what it originally stood for, and in doing so will restore respect for our wonderful country.
Only time will tell. But nothing will improve until at least November 2008, and between now and then GWB will continue to destroy America. He’s NOT DONE YET! Unfortunately.
