Interstingly enough I just did a paper on this subject for a psych class and was amazed at what I found out. The divorce rate, here in the U.S. anyway,in 2007 was actually at it's lowest point in over 20 years. I had always heard that it continued to climb every year and that soon more than half the marriages would end in divorce. I think, and this is just my opinion, that in most cases the reasons are laziness (not willing to put the effort into it) and selfishness (not being willing to compromise). Again this is just my opinion!
Excellent question tom.. since this seems to be the norm, should we sit idly by and just say, well, that is just what American politics has evolved into?
I am not replying to this one way or the other, simply asking a question and making statement. We as Americans seem to have a tendency to pick out one thing a president has done and dwell on that one act for their entire term, whether it be positive or negative. Aside from a health care bill laden with incentives for a few, how exactly has Obama "saved our necks"? I am just curious...
I always reply. To begin with it is just simple courtesy, if they took the time to seek me out, surely I can take a minute to respond. Not to mention the fact that you never know when or where or in what from love will find you.
Wow!! You summed it ALL up with that post.. my last, and greatest, love was what i liked to call perfectly imperfect.. Yes she had flaws, but I not only loved her despite them but because of them.. Thanks Gift, excellent post and a great reminder to us all!!!
Hey Assets, I used to feel that way until i realized that nobody was going to love me unless I loved myself. I have to admit it took a lot of work at first, but now I am happy and comfortable with who I am and what I have to offer. So I guess my answer is yes but not anymore!
I'm not sure you can have true love without trust.. Polar, this insecurity is something that cost me the most amazing woman I have ever met.. I am learning to be more secure and to love myself but I'm afraid I learned that lesson a bit too late.. Ahhhhh the fragile male ego...
Great idea!!! Don't know if this is applicable, but a few years back when I decided to give the vegetarian lifestyle a try, I wanted to open a vegetarian restaurant and call it The Mad Cow..
I lost my dad 8 years ago and not a day goes by that I don't wish he was here, for advice, a game of golf or just to put his arm around my shoulder and tell me I am doing ok.. I know it's hard, just hang in there...
HJ, this is something I have been working on as well and I started with myself.. after my divorce I felt like a failure and that I wasn't worthy of being loved. What I learned, at least for me, was that first step was loving myself. Now that I have accomplished that it has made the rest much easier. This is a lesson that could make this world a much better place. Excellent post, thank you!!!
I can eat a taco salad, but i prefer the taco supreme.. or i make my own with chicken, cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato and avacado... freakin love avacados..
That statement borders on ridiculous and shows a pretty high level of intolerance, I think. I would challenge that statement with the fact that the Christian Bible states that the only way to the Father is through His Son, Jesus Christ. Do I believe that, yes. Will I imply that you are wrong for believing what you choose to believe or that the Christian religion is obviously God's favorite, no I will not. I believe that we are all given free will and I respect everyone's right to believe or not believe as they choose.
I will keep my answer simple.. I think the Dems are in trouble seeing as they have already lost the "Kennedy seat", which had been occupied by a Dem for over 50 years and there was so much infighting over this healthcare bill. I also think this does not bode well for Obama's re-election hopes. As for my own personal vote, I will not vote for a person based solely on their political affiliation, I think that kind of thinking is what has gotten us into the mess we are in.
