Thanks for the tipoff Nvosiris!

Taken from "Goodnight Lady" by Martina Cole

She's my newest fave author - this is the 2nd book of hers that I've read and I'm even more hooked into it than I was the first one. They're sorta dark & twisty books - but she's such a good writer that you get caught up into the story - highly recommend her books!

RE: Syfy

Human Centipede?? It was alright - but a bit disappointing overall. The concept of the film is better than what it actually is. A bit slow moving and dull overall. IMO

RE: Syfy

I saw it awhile ago. It sounds more twisted than it is - was actually sorta disappointed. I'd read alot of reviews etc and when I saw it was "Medically Accurate" I thought that it would be better than it was. While "Medically Accurate" (the director's wife/girlfriend/whatever, her father is a surgeon and he helped to write certain scenes, so apparently, if its done like it was in the film, it could technically happen and everyone would "survive". Overall the name suggests shock and horror and all things like that - but I thought it was fairly slow moving and a bit dull.

Of course (and plenty here will agree) I'm just weird and I guess after hitting live leak and typing things in like "fatal" "bizarre" and things like that and watching most of the results I'm a bit desensitized to things like the Human Centipede. I mean, its a film, its not real - if you want real and seriously twisted - do some looking up on harlequin ichthyosis aka "the alien baby" - now thats real - no Hollywood storylines or makeup or anything fake - just reality, harsh, cruel reality.

(Disclaimer: Don't actually look up harlequin ichthyosis if your weak stomached or easily freaked out!)

RE: Interview the person below 2

laugh I should have seen that one coming! laugh

The last french kiss I would have shared would have been in 2006 with my last serious relationship.

When was the last time you volunteered your time and what did you do with your time?

RE: Interview the person below 2

Nope - Didn't recieve any cards this year myself, but I don't any year so meh tongue laugh

If you press Paste now.......

Ah c'mon now witty - its not that difficult!! tongue

Hit the aul quote thingy there and then click paste (either do an opposite mouse click and paste is there or hit CTRL and V at the same time - that will also paste) and then submit it. Simple as!

If you press Paste now.......

I think it may have been done before, but it can have quite funny results. I just went to paste something I thought I'd copied into Word, but clearly hadn't copied it and got

"dog groomers in Dublin" from an earlier search for a cheap dog groomer.

What do you get?

RE: Interview the person below 2

(I've read it myself and it is a good easy read alright, cant beat those at times!)

I always love going home - can't beat that for sure! But other than that - I really like city breaks, just going somewhere I've never been before - skipping the guide books, etc etc and just going out and finding it all myself. But alas no holidays for me for the foreseeable future! Am entering into a big project that will take all the time, money and focus that I have! blues

Where do you go when you feel you need to run or scream just to get away from it all?

RE: MISHEARD SONG LYRICS

My Mom had 2 classic cases of misheard lyrics - I still to this day laugh anytime that I hear either of the songs. My Mom was a smart lady but at certain times she'd have blond moments!

The first was "Roadhouse Blues" by The Doors - The real lyric is:
"Yeah, back at the Roadhouse they got some bungalows"

Her misheard lyric was:
"Yeah, back at the Roadhouse they got some buffalo's"

Heard her singing it and questioned her on it as to exactly why there might be buffalo's out there laugh laugh

The second one was "Glycerine" by Bush - The real lyrics are:
"I couldn't change though I wanted to, Should have been easier by three, Our old friend fear and you and me, Glycerine"

Her misheard lyric was:
"I couldn't change though I wanted to, Should have been easier by three, Our old friend Phil and you and me, Glycerine"

Again - had to question why that even made sense to her! laugh laugh

RE: keep one change one round 5

Don't stop

RE: Yes or no game

Nope - never flown in a helicopter and dont think I'd like to! uh oh

Have you ever planned a dinner party (friends over for dinner, whatever you want to call it) and burned/dropped/ruined the meal?

RE: Time on my hand ~~ Thought for the day ~~ add your`s

This one never fails to strike a chord and motivate me at times. Its a quote from the legend known as Bill Hicks....

"All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration – that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There's no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we're the imagination of ourselves"

The world is not a better place without him! RIP Bill Hicks (you legend!)

RE: The 20 Book Challenge

Thought that I'd give this an aul bump and see what everyone is reading at the moment?

RE: Lost Items

I always carry a little cartoon picture of my cat that my Mom drew for me years ago - it was getting tatty so paid to have it laminated after she passed away. I looked into my wallet one day and it was missing - it had remained there for about 5yrs and never budged but it had just gone missing. I felt nearly sick when I discovered it was gone. It was just a silly thing - but sometimes those are the things that can mean the most. I was living in a teeny tiny town in the West of Ireland when I lost it. I would have had no idea when or where it might have slipped out so tracing steps would have been impossible. One day I went into the local shop and was paying for my items and chatting to the woman behind the counter - I looked down at one point - and there was my cat cartoon leaning up against the side of the cash register! I was just short of hopping up and down in excitement there in the shop! It must have slid out when I'd been in there weeks previously and I told her it was mine and she said she'd left it there - that someone had found it on the other side of the counter (customers side) and had handed it up to her and because it looked old and was laminated she knew it was important to someone - so stuck it there hoping who had lost it would find it (and she thought it was cute!)

So - complete random chance it found me again and I hadn't actually lost it. And, it shows the niceness of people at times to do something like that! Alot would have tossed it into the bin without another thought - but she'd kept it there for about 2 months before I happened to go back into that shop again and spotted it.

RE: Cork County Meet --- What month would you like it to be on?

Ok, firstly and foremostly, I was only joking!! I know its not a god forsaken Island, was looking at photos when you first suggested the idea. Just Dublin to Cork is a fair distance and island - I just thought it was funny in my head, ok, ok, ok, bad joke on my behalf.

I didn't know there were standards for organizing meets and their locations. Perhaps she suggested a Cork meet as she lives there? And for someone who lives in Cork to organize a meet in Donegal or Belfast just doesn't seem to make much sense. She explained herself clearly and I agreed with her - that a meet before hand (for those who want to!) might not be a bad idea as a pre-cursor to the big Island meet. A smaller one might be a good jumping off platform to those who haven't been to meets, or who might show up here as newbies and prefer a small meet before the big one. I didn't think it was a big deal was all. And If you read the first comment on her thread you'll find GodsGift pointing out there's already a meet and he doesn't have the money to go. Maybe it was just me, but seeing as he signed up for the other meet that maybe because he couldn't make funds for Cuggly's idea that it shouldn't happen, and I simply made the comment that any meets are optional - if you can make it GREAT! and if you can't - well no worries save up for the next one.

Sorry that I offended anyone - they were just generalized comments about the subject at hand. I'm aware that very few have met me here - so alot of you don't get me and my sense of humour. I'll try and put laugh faces on either side of any jokes that I make to help clear confusion about what I'm saying.

Cuggly knows me, and knows me well - I'm sure she can verify that by my original comment I meant nothing bad, personal or off colour to anyone. Really, I'm a peaceful hippie girl underneath it all, promise! I come in peace! transport

RE: Cork County Meet --- What month would you like it to be on?

Just saying is all. blues I just thought the meet was a good idea - and for anyone who might have been on the line in deciding about it or nay-saying it, thought I'd just point out a few things, like it being optional, not mandatory. Its just some people get a bit per-snickity about meet ups is all.

handshake No offense meant to anyone handshake

Only positive reinforcement for Cuggly and her idea!

(PS - Cuggly, I think you'll be ok in organizing this meet as long as you dont mention, serve or charge for nibbles!)

RE: WORDS THAT GO BUMP IN THE NIGHT

RE: Cork County Meet --- What month would you like it to be on?

If anyone cant afford to go to the meet - don't go - its an optional thing. If some are interested in doing it - then let them. Its a free world and site open to anyone, and if you don't want to take part, then don't. Simple as. If funds were low - skip the booze - then its only travel expenses you'd have and petrol isn't that expensive nor are train/bus tickets. Plenty of great nights happen without booze so if you can't consider one, well maybe question that fact!

I think its an excellent idea Cuggly - like yourself I haven't been to a meet yet and I'd rather go to one before heading off to some god forsaken Cork island with yez all. laugh I mean, I know there's some here who I'm not exactly their best cup of tea so I think if I just showed up at the Sherkin Island meet - Before day 2 rolled around I fear I'd be constructing a raft Bear Grylls style! laugh laugh

So - overall great idea Cuggly, I support a meet before Sherkin Island 100% - who shows up, shows up. That's the way meets work anyways isn't it?? As you stated yourself, it's not competing for meet of the year or century, its only a few people meeting for an evening. Simple as. By some peoples standards anyone who dare organize a meet this year is also affecting the Island meet. (I keep wanting to call it Gilligans Island for some reason laugh )

RE: Cork County Meet --- What month would you like it to be on?

Love how you have the pink dancing elephant followed by the guards! That always gets 'em out in force!! Who doesn't love pink elephants in uniform?! laugh

Sounds good to me girly! I've started the kitty fund to get to these meets - we need more of them and more frequently me thinks! They all get too spaced apart.

RE: what do ye drive...

98 Honda CR-V - I love it - fave car ever (so far!)
It's a jeep sorta thing.

Its pretty much a sit in 'n' drive (automatic) aswell - only mine requires filling the petrol often aswell - might have to check out those VW golf's if they only run on window washer stuff!! laugh But thankfully I'm a whiz at topping up the aul petrol, window wash and the oil! (Same concept in all cases - just different locations & caps!) laugh

RE: time to lighten up

handshake No worries - again - what I said wasnt directed at you like you'd done it - you just phrased it that way and I should have phrased an answer more appropriately, It happens, toneless text and misconstrued meanings, but alls good handshake

(just a joke now!) But, if we lie and the generation of youngsters follows suit, then, well obviously if we lie, the generation before us did aswell, thats where we learned it - and, well, they had to learn it from the generation before them and so on and so on and so on. Guess lying goes back to the stoneage or before even! Hmmm, guess its been around too long to change much??

RE: time to lighten up

doh Yea - I get that that you were using a made up situation - and that was what my comment referred to. That if that was the case - bad parenting on your part - leaving your child alone with a PC that is able to access over 18s websites. I never once said you personally did that or that you personally were a bad parent. I meant if that situation HAD happened THEN you would be. I can understand that you were just explaining something - as did I - And I did read your post properly - so no running the mouth off on my side. Appols if that's how you took it up. handshake It's a public forum, people can post what they like when they like - and if you dont like it - well - that happens sometimes. (Just saying in general, not specifically at you before I get my head taken off again)
