Excellent choice! laugh

At the moment I have on Kings of Leon "Only By The Night"

RE: Amazon Kindle...anyone have one?

You seem to be in the exact position that I'm in!

I'd love to get one - but not sure if it could ever replace a real book. I'm not usually a big fan of reading alot on screens but I got talking to someone on a plane who had one and she let me have a browse of it and it actually doesn't seem that bad to read long term from.

All it's options are very seducing but I still have that wavering doubt that I wouldn't enjoy it the same as a book!

Keep this updated on your personal debate and if you get one or not!

RE: CS IPOD CLASSICS

This was my 3rd time to see Waters. He's my fave of them all. Actually rather despise Gilmour (more as a person than a musician, if it weren't for "On the turning away" I wouldn't even rate him much as a musician!) Both of the last times that I saw Waters he was doing his Darkside tour, which is my #1 album of all time and probably always will be! The prism logo is on nearly everything of mine - even have a tattoo of it! laugh

Good to find another Floydian Fan around these parts!
Maybe the next time he's touring Dublin/Ireland we can plan a Roger Waters CS meet! Claim the front row of the show! (And, we might have a few stand in parts for the lunatic on the grass laugh laugh hmmm hole )

RE: CS IPOD CLASSICS

Sorry for the mini hijack biggles

Yep Blarney - was a uber fantastic night. He's re-written the Wall stage show so it was even more fantastic than usual! If I had the cash I'd be going again tonight!

RE: CS IPOD CLASSICS

(still don't know the fancy way of putting up the vid!)

Here's my vote!

Was at his show last night - another fantastic epic evening!

RE: The Queen's visit

This is JUST A QUESTION and in no way my opinion - just simply a question - so no jumping too harshly on me!!!!!

Are you (or anyone else with the opinion things belong in the past and should stay there) religious?? Do you believe in God, Jesus and all the rest??

Well, using the same theory - that's all in the past aswell, shouldn't you forget about that as well??

Again - just a question - so please don't take it as I'm being snotty or forcing my opinion - its just merely a question.

RE: True meaning of "Voluptuous"

A dictionary website defines it as:

vo·lup·tu·ous

–adjective
1.
full of, characterized by, or ministering to indulgence in luxury, pleasure, and sensuous enjoyment: a voluptuous life.
2.
derived from gratification of the senses: voluptuous pleasure.
3.
directed toward or concerned with sensuous enjoyment or sensual pleasure: voluptuous desires.
4.
sensuously pleasing or delightful: voluptuous beauty.

But I do side with Annie's statement. It all depends on how the person views themselves. thumbs up

RE: Out of these particular movies, which one would you think is best??

Regarding Silence of the Lambs has anyone heard they're doing an Irish remake of it? Shut Up Ewes? laugh

(sorry, I only heard that one recently and thought it was funny so couldn't resist sharing it. Right, I'll go back and hide under my rock again hole)

RE: aagggg

Ba, ba, ba, ba baby bell? Sorry I could'nt resist!tongue

If its wax, then putting ice or something out of the freezer on it for awhile should harden it then you should be able to peel it off with a knife or your fingers or something.

RE: doggin

I couldn't agree with you there - my new lil girl is one of my best friends in life. When my other dog passed away last year, someone shared the following with me, so I'll pass it on here:

"He is my other eyes that can see above the clouds; my other ears that hear above the winds. He is the part of me that can reach out into the sea. He has told me a thousand times over that I am his reason for being; by the way he rests against my leg; by the way he thumps his tail at my smallest smile; by the way he shows his hurt when I leave without taking him. (I think it makes him sick with worry when he is not along to care for me.) When I am wrong, he is delighted to forgive. When I am angry, he clowns to make me smile. When I am happy, he is joy unbounded. When I am a fool, he ignores it. When I succeed, he brags. Without him, I am only another man. With him, I am all-powerful. He is loyalty itself. He has taught me the meaning of devotion. With him, I know a secret comfort and a private peace. He has brought me understanding where before I was ignorant. His head on my knee can heal my human hurts. His presence by my side is protection against my fears of dark and unknown things. He has promised to wait for me... whenever... wherever - in case I need him. And I expect I will - as I always have. He is just my dog." - Gene Hill

RE: Mobile Broadband

laugh laugh I know, I know, its bloody strange. But I swear, it worked for me. Going up 2 bars (from just originally 1 bar) was 3 bars, and it literally tripled the speed of it. Like I said, just be prepared for slaggings if you go the cooking pot road! laugh laugh

I had so many problems overall with those modems, and even when they were working right, the coverage was still crap (until I discovered the "satellite") and even then, that just made it useable!

RE: shopping with change money

Money is money and it all spends the same to me, your or anyone. That's unfortunately the attitude of so many people/shops in this country. Rude beyond belief. And they keep getting away with it as no one complains "ah, sure, that's how it is" - No, that's not how it is or how it should be. Firstly and foremostly - never set foot in the shop again, full out boycott of them as someone else said - also as someone else already said - contact your local paper. I mean this in a good way so please don't take it wrongly - a Pensioner treated this way is something they will take interest in - I see it enough in my own local paper - name and shame them! You've gotten a great start here on CS - now just move it into other medias as well - Chains like that have media watchers who are paid to scan all forms of media for any mention of the company - good or bad - so you'll be making a 2 sided attack - plus it highlights to the community what has happened - and if he's done that to your father - I'd bet you a drink and a pack of crisps that he's done it to others Pensioners, and who knows who else - so I'm sure anyone it has happened to who didnt say anything will read your fathers story and be motivated to making a complaint of their own. And in the meantime - also make a complaint via this - I've done this myself at one point and all I'm willing to say on this forum is that I had great results with it - so please feel free to private mail me if you want any further info or support in contacting them.

RE: how long?

A friend of mine (yes really, I mean a friend of mine and not myself) used to have a "dating mobile" - she got another phone that she'd give that number to anyone she felt was alright having it, kept her own personal number safe and if things went weird she could just scrap the other number and get another one. Personally felt it was a bit OTT, but could get where she was coming from with it, so it did make sense. Could be an option there for you.

RE: CENSUS IRELAND 2011 !!!!

It's mine aswell and I won't be handshake

RE: CENSUS IRELAND 2011 !!!!

handshake To each their own handshake

The information they want is already availble in other ways. It's ultimately all part of the "big brother" system. If they need to know how many people get the #27 bus, go stand at the bus stop and count them, and I doubt 100yrs down the line anyone will care about how many people got the #27 bus 100yrs ago. Its just another form of control they're putting on society, so I'm really not interested in taking part. I don't deny anyone the privledge of filling theirs in correctly, but I certainly won't be. Jedi is the most normal answer they'll get from me in the end.

RE: CENSUS IRELAND 2011 !!!!

Wont be home so haven't bothered filling it out and it will probably stay that way. It's all information that is available elsewhere so they won't be getting any form back from myself. Same as the last time really roll eyes yawn

RE: fed up of been single

I've been single since 2006 so 2010 doesn't seem so bad!

You can't rush things - the right situation and the right person will come along when they come along and it wont happen a moment before it's ready to. That was a hard fact for me to accept over these years - but I finally have - and just enjoying life and single life for what its worth. Chin up, she's out there somewhere for you I'm sure of it!handshake

RE: Organ Donor Awareness Week

"Regardless of how sick someone is when he dies, there may still be portions of the body that can be transplanted. It's true that some infectious diseases will cause the transplant decision-makers to reject a patient as a donor. Patients considering donation are advised to make the decision to donate, and let the professionals decide at the time of death whether a donation can be accepted.

Another kind of donation, but just as much of a gift, is whole body donation. When a body is donated to medical science, it provides the opportunity for student doctors to learn about anatomy and disease. It also allows researchers to learn more about diseases, how they start and progress, and perhaps some of the ways the disease could have been prevented or cured.

Medical universities and research labs are highly appreciative of donations of human bodies. The great majority of donations are accepted, although some infectious diseases may rule out donation."

RE: The 20 Book Challenge

Bumping this up for Biggles

It was always a good thread so thought I'd kick it back up to the top and see what everyone is reading these dayshandshake

RE: A good read.

I'm (still) currently reading Martina Cole's "Goodnight Lady"
Have only recently discovered her and the 2 other books I've read by her were brilliant - and this one is aswell. Just haven't had enough time to get sunk into it properly!

RE: Organ Donor Awareness Week

Great post FieryRed! thumbs up thumbs up

A kidney transplant saved my Mom's life and gave her a new life all over again. She had been reliant on Kidney Dialysis for over 9 years (3 times a week, going to the hospital getting connected to the machine for 4 hours per session) and while it was keeping her alive - she wasn't thriving on it and she was getting alot of adverse reactions to the treatments aswell. After years and years on the transplant list she finally recieved a donated Kidney.

By simply carrying a card or changing your license you can 100% change someones life. You can't take your organs, or corneas or anything with you to the other side, they stay here regardless, they are removed at autopsy and then destroyed, the body is not disfigured or destroyed in any way that would show and prevent calling/viewing hours, an open casket or any normal funeral proceedings. And with donation, you can give the gift of life to someone who desperately needs it.

A wonderful post FieryRed - thanks for bringing this to attention as its a very dear subject to me! comfort comfort

RE: In memory of my Mother

sad flower
Really nice post - My Mom's gone 6yrs now and still miss her more and more every day.

RE: OVER 30 YEARS.

I'm nearly 30 and no kids yet - nor will there ever be - so I'd feel damn lucky and proud to be 30 and no kids.

RE: Love on CS

Speeding towards the one year anniversary of being on here myself aswell. Have had a handful of dates in my time here - but nothing significant enough to call it love. But ah sure - it'll happen when it happens I do suppose!

RE: women

Likes nights in aswell as nights out.

Likes breathing and blinking.

RE: Problem with windows 7

I'm not fully sure of windows 7 - but the issue you are having is to do with the screen resolution it sounds like. Try going into into the Advance Settings under Adjust Screen Resolution and see if you can fix it there. If the max resolution of the monitor is 1280 x 800 then set game resolution at 1280 x 800.
