I'm working as an enumerator and in some places people have been coming out to me for the past week trying to return filled forms...Lol.

If people throw them out I'll just give them a new form...

Wont be home so haven't bothered filling it out and it will probably stay that way. It's all information that is available elsewhere so they won't be getting any form back from myself. Same as the last time really roll eyes yawn

Census are very important to our future.....IMO ...... The census is the key stone to building an infrastructure to support future building of public buildings etc., and to documnent a history of ourselves for archival records for the generations to come.

handshake To each their own handshake

The information they want is already availble in other ways. It's ultimately all part of the "big brother" system. If they need to know how many people get the #27 bus, go stand at the bus stop and count them, and I doubt 100yrs down the line anyone will care about how many people got the #27 bus 100yrs ago. Its just another form of control they're putting on society, so I'm really not interested in taking part. I don't deny anyone the privledge of filling theirs in correctly, but I certainly won't be. Jedi is the most normal answer they'll get from me in the end.

doh At national level current population statistics are essential for planning the provision of health care, education, employment, etc. Regional figures are critical for determining regional policy and for the operation of regional authorities (e.g. Health Boards and of course the number of people using the #27 Bus). The greatest strength of the census is the provision of detailed population figures at local level. These help to identify likely demand for schools and health care facilities, areas of relatively high unemployment, the best location for new shops, etc. Article 16.2 of the Constitution (Bunreacht na hÉireann) lays down that the total membership of Dáil Eireann depends on the population as measured by the census (i.e. 1 TD per 20,000 to 30,000 persons). Constituency reviews normally take place once the definitive results of the census have been published.

The census is also the only means of accurately measuring the exact extent of migration. By comparing the results of successive censuses, and taking account of the number of births and deaths that have occurred over the same period, we get an accurate measure of net migration (the difference between inward and outward migration).

As you say ......each to their own, well this is my country and i will fill it in. handshake
