I remember it well. My mother had just flown back from Philadelphia the day before, my sister lives up there. I was off that day due to being sick. Mom called me to see if I had the T.V. on which I didn’t.
When I turned it on I was shocked, and horrified at the sight. I remember saying"My God, My God, what is happening, all those souls gone!" I could not believe what I was seeing, then the second plane hit and I thought of the radio program by H.G. Wells, War of the Worlds. I almost had myself convinced that it was a hoax but nobody ever laughed and said ‘GOTCHA’.
I was enraged at the sight after the shock wore off. I called my local Air Force recruiter and begged to be re-enlisted. When I was in the A.F. I was an Aircraft Armament Systems and Weapons Technician. I wanted a piece of somebody’s A@@.. I wanted to help train our troops how to tear up some Friggin’ real estate.
I could not re-up due to my age and re-enlistment status. I was fit to be tied, I called everyone I knew trying to get back in the service, no luck. I tried for two months, I felt denied, violated, helpless, and useless!
I have or had a pic that had an image of an evil face about midway down the trade center, above it is an angel looking down at the face.
I know why out troops are over there, I had an instant philosophy on 9/11 then and I still maintain my view of what should have been done. I will not put that to this public forum due to the political nature of war and ethics of war.
I Thank all the heroes of that dreadful day to include the troops that are in Iraq now.
