RE: Random Comments .....

oh they are not meant to be but like the financial stuff it is what most people know they should be hearing but don't want to know.

actually with the financial stuff if you know what is coming it is the time of opportunity if you can position yourself. just frustrating when you have the knowledge but can't.

RE: Random Comments .....

Oh & stress is different to different people.

Baghdad suicide bombs going off all around you, shooitng warning shots every few minutes or driving through a firefight, no stress for most of us ex military types, but back here dealing with bureaucrats or poor service when they have no real excuse, now that is stressful.

so sometimes having that special someone who doesn't stress over those things you do, can help keep you on an even keel.

RE: Hasseling people on this site

so true there Dragondog. for me it is part of army thing. always learn from your mistakes or the mistakes of others. Just makes me a better person.

Thanks for reply too Tarnsnz. yep not contacting that one again.

I don't mind baggage or knowing about someones ex's as they make us the person we are today. I even don't mind issues as if we are to be partners then we can deal with them together, but playing games. yes I want long term relationship then no I can't handle it.

Just get out altogether if you don't know.

seems though all the good ones are here on the forums, giving opinions whether we agree or not & learning from each other.

RE: Happiness pay it forward !!!

didn't get in there Kizzy & anyway I asked those lot in Sydney to make sure it was alright to use the words. no reply.

RE: Random Comments .....

Noticed that myself. cook too much but don't want to waste it. self defeating on the weight loss front.

more fruit & veges for me.

RE: Happiness pay it forward !!!

one thing that peeves me in this country is with food regulations all the food now left over they can not give to homeless or Sally's to hand out. these are people eating out of rubbish bins. I think it will take a bit to make them ill.

too healthy could do it though. It did to iraqis living on dump in Baghdad.

RE: Your Opinion On Internet Dating... had any luck?

Lol. after I have swum the ditch? lol.

no mate just there seems to be an issue with military personal so if I can help I will.

It is hard enough in those places to worry about someone back home without finding out that everyone thinks you might be scamming them.

RE: Happiness pay it forward !!!

yeah just with your idea they are those that probably need the most just like the guy in the movie "pay it forward" the kid befriended.

those are the people most walk past everyday & never see them.

they only see them when they get in their face & it was left to us or the police to remove them. we tried to leave them with some dignity as that is all they have left when they get that far down.

one glue sniffer when not on it (actually a few when i come to think of it) remember it & are always grateful.

they are the ones I think need your scheme the most. in the movie it was the boys grandmother as well that fitted that.

hard when they smell of glue or no wash for weeks, but real good feeling.

RE: Kizzys Guide to Internet dating...

oh aussie crawl or freestyle.

to me overarm is bowling in cricket.

too many great whites this side of the ditch. although we nearly had a bridge at one part.

RE: Kizzys Guide to Internet dating...

Overarm as in cricket? was a fast bowler when young. played for NZ forces south east asia & we beat most teams including Australian team from butterworth. don't bat like most Maori though who just heave it more often than not. I bet like Geoff boycott & one of my heros was Alan Border. gritty.

haven't played for years.

re meeting as many as possible, well I am more for the special one as soon as you can get off the plane. lol.

being alone enough though.

yes they often say that special someone is someone close. there is one who loves me (so she says) but she went & got married & now has three kids. story of my life.

RE: Kizzys Guide to Internet dating...

well do share. what do I need to do I need to do to find that special someone? I know I am too bluntly honest at times but not sure that will ever change.

RE: Kizzys Guide to Internet dating...

well this was a side to Kizzy I hadn't seen in all your other threads.

starts as cynical, when I say I am honest I am bluntly so & it doesn't always go woen well.

but had to crack up at that cyber thing.

so what other pearls of wisdom do you have?

RE: Happiness pay it forward !!!

Going to get my cards printed tomorrow Kizzy.

it is people like you that will help start a change I hope & change the thing like on racial issues.

One thing I know from security is people will not even see those who are at the lowest rung like glue sniffers or drunks.

RE: Your Opinion On Internet Dating... had any luck?

well I am real ex military so if something seems dodgy ask me as I will be able to tell normally.

how we caught the guy out here in chch is first he was saying he was ex special forces. they never or hardly ever tell you unless you were military yourself.

then the words he used. No one in the military calls them that.

when taken to task by ex soldiers where he worked he used words that are peculiar to one army & are in books a lot.

I have enough contacts especially from working in Iraq to be able to follow up to check if they are for real.

it is a growing problem & I know two of the worlds top special force units now have a register because so many people working in Iraq were claiming falsely to be part of them.

I have access to one of them, though not ex special forces myself, just was told by someone in one of them how to access to check.

RE: Your Opinion On Internet Dating... had any luck?

Isn't there something wrong with the world when you guys are so right about something so wrong?

First deceiving someone who is looking for love & then using the line "I am in the military". Being ex military that really gets to me.

we have a guy here in chch telling everyone he can he is ex special forces, but on questioning it appears he was at most two days in TF & read some books, so all his answers are wrong for someone who has being in.

he is actually putting peoples lives in danger in the work he does.

I would hate to think what he tells the women.

I just hope this guy is who he says he is for your sake & good luck.

RE: Random Comments .....

Kia Ora Toffeapple & Tarnsnz,

that issue of cooking for one. have it myself.

when I do cook it is generally my chicken curry(hot) concoction which I have had no complaints about as yet or my other similar concoction I came up with & when asked what it was called so someone could get the recipe called it "Dusty's Surprise'. Blow me down if they didn't used to ring all the time for me to talk them through cooking it. But they always got it wrong so they say.

someone has just given me a big amount of venison, but wouldn't have a clue what to do with it. hang on have an edmonds cook book might have to look. but way too much for just me.

might just have to dig out a healthy mince pie tonight or do the trusty sandwiches thing.

RE: Random Comments .....

Yep knew that.

what is even less known but has come out more recently here in NZ was ships from NZ were getting seized in sydney as they had no flag. So group of Iwi (tribes) in Northland formed a govt in 1835 & their flag is actually the official first flag. When Britain annexed NZ they did so illegally, but just pipped the french who were going to do the same.

The worry is people quote wikipedia when it is often wrong.

RE: Hasseling people on this site

yes Tarnz that is disrepectful.

some expressed surprise that I actually answered smiles on one site even if it was to tell them I didn't think we suited each other. It is just a matter of courtesy.

Have asked this other one if she wants me to contact her. no reply. Yes I want you, no I don't at present as I have issues to deal with, but lets stay in touch then nothing after a couple of messages. If she doesn't want to just a straight up no. have asked that before but she says oh yes.

It would be nice to know & why would be even better. only way I can improve myself is by knowing.

RE: Your Opinion On Internet Dating... had any luck?

actually it is a plan, aim, goal & dream all in one. big thing missing is that special person.

In fact bumbped into ex army mate who said "how is it going?" "well got to loose some weight, get business moving & find that special someone". His reply "find that special someone. you will have a very special person in your life, loose weight from extra exericse (not sure what he means. lol) & your business will take off.

Funny thing is when you are going down this path you find that is true of all successful people. As one person says the most important person in your team is the special person/partner in your life.

RE: Your Opinion On Internet Dating... had any luck?

Thats Ok Martia but what I find is I often get a lot of responses, but very few of them read my profile (& I know a lot of guys don't either) so are no match at all.

that was why the one that was I put my heart & sole into it & found she was only playing games.

bit disturbed about the bit of owning a house. that shows that most women are not for me as my aim is to be rich so I can make a difference in the world. You can only make a real difference if you are rich as the world runs on the golden rule. He who has the gold makes the rules.

One thing the rich do is own nothing but control everything. So when someone says they want you to own, then their use of language tells me straight away it will never last.

Bit hard I know but that is what I learnt through study. words tell people where your mindset is.

RE: Hasseling people on this site

well for the kiwis don't go on NZ dating as that is all you get from guys & girls.

sometimes it is a communication thing. often guys have no idea what is going on.

recently on another site woman was keen to meet to look for a long term relationship, but when I fronted, first it was great, then it wasn't then it was very friendly & now after she said no more but keep in touch, she won't reply.

get the feeling she just didn't want me, but that is not reason she gave. It was her issues she had to sort. well I think her issue is leading guys on then getting her fun & moving onto the next one without really saying no more. she likes the attention & she is not the only women I know of who does this.

So I am going to ask her in next few days.

meanwhile I will just enjoy the forums here. it is why I came back. some pretty good banter.

RE: Random Comments .....

Yes seen most of that too when based in Singapore. One thing you had to watch in Iraq was when Americans put in a road block or there was a bombing. you would suddenly find yourself facing about 1000 cars just turning around & driving back towards you. At other times because we had to keep the vehicles moving we deliberately drove into on coming traffic.

But for sure poor driving skills I would rate NZ about the worst. Nice people till we get behind the wheel. It is why our death toll on a recent long weekend was greater than Aussie's.

Hey though love the banter on this thread. gone through. seems some pretty funny people on here.

RE: Random Comments .....

Kiwis are some of the worst drivers I have even seen. It is just our low population that makes us think we are better.

drove in baghdad & after invasion they had no road rules & they drove a lot better. more alert.

Only issue they had besides us driving to have an accident was lack of maintenance. wasn't uncommon for the car you were shooting at as possible suicide bomber coming at you actually had no brakes,

One even looked like the flintstones in that sure their feet were on the ground when they stopped.

RE: I shall remember them

well Jerry is a good man there Rob, so it will the information he is receiving. he was an OC when I was in Singapore 1RNZIR, having being a section commander there before he passed selection for the SAS.

as I said in email though, there are much bigger issues coming to peoples attention now. we both know that the goverments are covering up heaps regards to military & what we have done or things not recorded.

large parts of my medical records are missing & as I said whole deployments on exercise have not being recorded because we were there for another reason (boys would of gone alright as it was what we trained for but they could of told us why we were really there).

thanks to the internet more & more so called myths are being exposed as truths.

Dusty

RE: Happiness pay it forward !!!

Kizzy I take it there is no copyright on this. couldn't access the page for these cards so thought I might get some printed myself. Just might have to change the writing.

Dusty

RE: I shall remember them

Rob you are not going to believe this. bloody Jim anderton is now going to run for Mayor of Christchurch.

If he wins he is going to be Mayor & MP at same time. Paper says it is understood that he will put one income to charity. just with him I expect a whole lot of excuses as too why he can't. about to campaign against him on FB & twitter.

Dusty

RE: Happiness pay it forward !!!

Watched the movie it was great.

unfortunately then reality kicked in & everytime I do something nice I get a kick in the guts.

People say I focus on money or my security. I do but for one reason only & that is to make a difference in the world. a real difference. help those leaving the military.

but no matter your good intentions there seems to be a lot more people ready to pull you down.

I hope though that it works. good luck.

Kizzy it is people like you why we join the military for. to keep the good things going.

Dusty

RE: ANZAC Day

Hey kizzy that 12 months is what Rob is talking about. that was the guarantee US National guard got. though longer than 12 months sign up in exchange for education. they are a govt they can change the rules at anytime.

G. W. Bush did on the national guard. The NZ govt did it constantly on us over our super when I was in & has done it again since.

Once you sign the dotted line things change. though in what is about to happen to the worlds economy it might be the best place for him for next few years.

Dusty

RE: ANZAC Day

Sorry Kizzy the second part of that post was for you to ponder.

just found I couldn't access your name once I was writing it.

RE: ANZAC Day

... Australia (and those of the free world) must never, ever forget that it was ordinary blokes who went and did the extraordinary so we can have the life and freedom we have today ... some never returned to their loved ones and many returned deeply effected for the rest of their lives by their service to their country ...

Unfortunately Driver7 it is happening.

Aussie are probably the best I have seen for looking after their soldiers, ex soldiers & even the families.

Here is some disturbing recent news I came across being an ex soldier & more recently working as private security in Iraq.

75% of those living on the streets in Britain are ex soldiers (900,000 in the US) & even more recently 80% of those in prison in Britain are ex soldiers.

About two weeks before ANZAC a mate from my days in the NZ army took his life.

That prompted me to ask on facebook amongst my ex comrades, "Isn't it about time countries like NZ recognized our training, skills & experience (NZ doesn't, aussie does).

the response was this from one former officer.

A vietnam veteran officer had become concerned as to why so many NZ infanteers were ending up in prison who had not served on operations (for nearly 30 years we didn't go anywhere) so why were our statistics the same as those countries that had. No PTSD to contend with.

A study was carried out & this was what was found.

when you see the stress list they put out on someone dying or you moving that is great. but when you have mulitple incidents it doesn't get added together as has being the norm but it goes up on multiples. the tipping point is 630 points

But soldiers have some extra bits added. Exposure to concussive explosions has an effect (yet that was the part of training we loved, explosions, bullets whizzing around. you noticed it in baghdad whilst everyone was running we were running towards it or very under control as it was nothing new).

Probably the big one is our training is to overcome the fight or flight & puts us on permanent standby to fight. they never deprogrammed us & the military had no way of doing it. they know now, but it comes down to money & time before someone leaves.

So with all the operational service around the world & people not being deprogrammed there are huge numbers of ticking time bombs.

another thing was when I left, you were told 4-8 years to adjust to the world outside. actually it is 4-8 years to surpress those things that put you offside with the outside world. when you surpress something it comes back.

So ANZAC day we talked about this. what we come up with was this.

some armies are starting to do it again. on way back from a combat zone you put all the soldiers in an isolated area, give them heaps of piss & just let them go for a few weeks, then bring them back.

Make sure they stay in touch with their mates from the military when they leave. Too many in trying to fit in cut themselves off but you can't talk to people who have never being in the military let alone to a war zone about what you have seen as they will not understand.

Ensure RSA's & RSL's are kept going as that is what they were set up for. It was to let the people who had experienced it, talk to each other. It was noticeable as a soldier that those that had being would tell you what they had not ever told their families. Meeting up with the RSA group on 45th anniversary of crete their wives got them to talk to us. that way the wives for the first time ever heard what they had gone through.

for the above careful as Jim Anderton wants to close RSA's.

Keep police bars & military bars open as that again is where they deal with what they see in their work. Law commission in NZ wants to bring them in line with normal bars but they have a special purpose.

last of all recognize our skills & training because we can help to make this a better world. by being welcomed & not shunned we feel it was worth it.
