An experiment in kindness is being trialed this year & Ide like to offer you all the chance to participate

I have been involved with the 2010 Happiness & its causes conference held in Sydney this week,Guest speakers from all over the world attend each year to try & find ways to achieve happiness , to enhance each life & that of those around us in a positive way.

Many of you will be aware of the book/movie Pay it forward ,where random acts of kindness are passed forward without pay back in the hope a ripple of kindness will spread thru the community !!! great concept
The whole Karma thing comes into action too

This year free kindness cards can be obtained from

The card reads
"someone has reached out to you with an anonymous act of kindness, now its your chance to do the same
DO SOMETHING KIND
and leave this card behind to keep the ripple going"

It need not be money it can be anything
bring a neighbours washing in, let someone go before you , tell someone they look great then leave them a card etc

This morning i paid for a random person behind me coffee at starbucks Darling harbour I told the girl to tell the third person behind me thier coffee was free & to give them this card.
I sat & watched as am amazed sydneysider was stunned he read the card smiled & looked about ..He placed the card carefully into his wallet , he will pay it forward !!!I feel it .
be a part of something wonderful!!!!

yay yay yay yay
Please let me know if you take it on !!!Ide love to hear your random acts of kindness perhaps we can get creative about it !!!

Does it count if your motives are impure uh oh grin

I was around at my friends House for the first time in several weeks last night. It was extremely obvious she had lost weight. So I told her so. She Blushed deep red but it was obvious she was over the moon that I noticed. Apparently Hubby and her other contacts hadn't said anything or taken any notice.

Why are Husbands so blind to the little things?.sigh

please Dear Lord if I practice this idea Kizzy has suggested would you please grant me a female to date. daydream shimmy

Hi kizzy,

It's amazing that we need expensive conferences to remind the each other and the world that kindness is freely given.confused

I have found that some of the poorest people are often the first to show kindness, and naturally, seek nothing in return.

Everyday acts of kindness in the community include:

People giving me, and I give to others, parking tickets with left over hours of credit, as one or the other is about to park.

I often leave perfectly good items on the roadside rather than sell them eg on eBay, spare the thought!!!...sometimes it's been working printers complete with software and cables.

When I bought a super duper new Italian stove, I gave away a fully funtional upright gas cooking stove in good condition, to my friend's ex-husband as he didn't have one and is on disability. The proviso was that he actually use it for himself and not sell it. He did install it, and it looks spiffing!

One of the most giving people in this world is my mother. She can't stop herself, and has the annoying habit of always putting herself last!!!

I too have a mother like that, She is a wonderful person,

Kizzy i was quite envious of your tickets, it sounds such an interesting conference to attend, I'm glad u enjoyed it and got so much from it and indeed, passed it on (the info) to us

Its a great idea what u've suggested, it is sad however that sometimes we need a reminder to do these sorts of things, I shall be looking into it myself for sure,
I have often gave good items away rather than sell it myself too Ven' I think its a much better idea if you can do that

Great post Kizzy thanks applause

Basically this whole thing was a random act of kindness you see my son 18 is doing his PIP(personal interest project ) assignment (hsc ) on Happiness ,On sunday I saw an article for the conference in the telegraph & thought it would be great for my sons assignment & remarked to a friend that i was going to book my son a seat When I got home I googled it only to discover the price uh oh $1645.00 is wayyyyy outta my league, however I decided to flick them an email, I asked them if they could spare a seat ..bold I know !!!
Anyway next day we recieved an email a vip gold pass all expenses staying at the ibis Darling Harbour I only stayed 1 day my son had a vip pass that gives him entry both days plus a workshop tommorrow worth an extra $500.00 !!!He just text me apparently he & Gretel Kileen are hittin it off they have exchanged emails uh oh
Cougar town very mad step away gretel mumbling Nah she is just going to give him a personal quote ...apparentlyblues
The generousity has been phenominal to say the least!

Of late lots of good things are coming my way im feeling a little bit blessed to be honest ...

I think thats great Ven !!!
Sadley however I think we do need some reminding , alot of todays youth are very much about what they can get rather than what they can give , Many come from low income families where generousity to others doesnt happen due to lack of resourses, or more commonly addictions , To remind people that giving feels great is a wonderful thing it certainly makes recieving all the more rewarding.I have armed my 11 yr old with some cards tommorrow she sets out changing her school ...It is an exciting experiment to see how many children in her school embrace the random kindness concepts I shall keep you all posted !!!

Watched the movie it was great.

unfortunately then reality kicked in & everytime I do something nice I get a kick in the guts.

People say I focus on money or my security. I do but for one reason only & that is to make a difference in the world. a real difference. help those leaving the military.

but no matter your good intentions there seems to be a lot more people ready to pull you down.

I hope though that it works. good luck.

Kizzy it is people like you why we join the military for. to keep the good things going.

Kizzy - thanks for the post - I have ordered the cards, but sometimes I agree it is better not to bring attention to myself and just do it! Parking vouchers not used are a good way to pay it forward and so easy to do. Giving away old TVs is too - if only someone would take them! mumbling

Loved your story about the coffee - brought tears to my eyes - such a simple thing, but such a lovely thing to do. (yes...I am a big sook)
