Not only the west but the middle east is changing as well. I admit many mulims do not agree with christianity being within their countrys but then look at how the christian faith has been merciless in dealings with them in the past. I am not religous but I accept all religions have a positive meaning for there followers. Things are changing all around the world with intergration of cultures due to economic climates and better communications. It is only a small minority that cause problems for the many.
This is where men are lucky, we dont hve sagging issues or bingo wings, all we have to worry about is making sure our beer bellies are large enough to hide the unemployed from sight
It is a difficult question to answer in some ways. Nothing to do with illness but a few weeks ago I changed my profile to an entirely honest description of me. That is I was unemployed and soon to be made homless. I think I had more messages by doing that than by having a profile that was almost misleading ie didnt say what my life was really like in that respect, not to do with relationships but about how nice it was to see an honest profile. Fortunatly now I have managed to sort out my housing issues and to some extent my work issues so have changed my profile accordingly now.
On the illness side it is not your fault you suffer from it and many people I am sure would be understanding. If I meet anybody else it would not put me off to be honest, I think the danger would be is if someone feels sorry for you and wants to be in a relationship for the wrong reasons as a result. Many people can see beyond illnesses and see that the person is exctly that, a person with feelings nd dreams.
I wish you luck in finding the man of your dreams and hope he turns up soon x
I do wonder from the original post if this is based on experiance and if so to what extent. It could just be generalising or stereotyping about preconcieved ideas about what people might think of an individual and why people do not find interest from reading profiles etc if using online sites. The first thing anybody is ever attracted to is the look of someone else. That is true if it is out in the real world or online. Is this judgemental? Maybe it is and from experiance with online sites people will only ever put their good points down and forget to mention the lesser things. So when you do meet there is always a risk of dissapointment and then you will judge that person as possibly being misleading etc. I think that there is the right person for everybody out there somewhere but meeting the right person is the difficult thing to start with. Its all to easy to end up with the wrong person for the wrong reasons so whats the harm in being a little judgemental until you do find the right person.
I guess I am fortunate in being in a position where I can be judgemental on looks. I am sure you have all heard the phrase "looks like an oil painting" well I have been told on numerous occasions that I am like an oil painting, just a poor copy of a Picasso
still I take that as a compliment to be considered worthy of being compared to the works of a great artist
Being judgemental is one of the perks of being human.
No matter who we are we all judge people on a daily basis probably without even thinking about it whether its in a bar, at work or on tv etc. Even in a relationship people still judge there partners. So why would people not judge someone who they are not in a relationship. I know I would rather meet a genuinely down to earth person with or without employment a home or whatever over someone who was pretentious and full of themselves with a massive house and loads of money. The difference is I know the person who has the money can afford to look good whereas the other you get to see the real person. So yes I am judgemental but in a slightly different way to the norm.
"A towel, [The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy] says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapors; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-boggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough" — Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy)
I did get into the habit of napping in the afternoons on my days off from work a few years ago but found I couldnt then get to sleep at night. So now just stay awake all day unless I am at work
