This was brought up on a Thread Yesterday and a Few people seemed to thing it was a good idea, so here it is.
While some of you on CS have found your mate, there are many of us still single. Most people on the forums seem to be intelligent, interesting, good sense of humor... traits most of us admire and have listed as things we desire in a partner... so the question arises...
Why are you still single? Please vote and elaborate.

Don't worry i have done that loads of time my self
Ok i am on my own because no one want me

jbibiza: That phrase... rather be alone than lonely with someone, that really sums it up well, I've epressed it in a lot of ways but that says it perfectly.
My best friend here in Ibiza is from Wales... Newport
I have spent my life travelling consistently since 14 years old... 25 years later I realise I am still single..umm yes a few dates along the way but nothing long term because of my lifestyle.. Now I am content to settle a little...eensy weensy bit... No-one will have me...lol!!!!!! Its my mothers fault...she was in the circus as a trapeze artist so I had no hope of a 'normal' partnered life!!!
lusciousmile: Same here. I chose not to date Finns. We are toooo different.
.....but i found someone on CS who lives in a different country....i can't quite call myself single anymore. Girls.
Did have someone here that had lived in Germany for 14 yrs so was really european in his views, but the interference from outside influences re the culture caused so many problems in our relationship
That brings up an interesting question... Internet allows us to meet people from all over the world. We are introduced to people we never could have met otherwise, but there is the possibilitly of falling for someone who is "geographically undesirable". Having met that person, does it make you less satisfied and less willing to settle for someone in your location who is available?

Its human nature that the grass always looks greener....

Culture can cause more problems than one can imagine. I find religion and culture very sensitive factors in dating.

For me i would be very wary of starting another relationship with someone from a completely different culture, the stress of saying or doing the wrong thing in public was enormous. Now i have given up on the dating idea here but enjoy the companionship on the internet of the people i have meet.
It's funny... the man I'm interested in on another site is from Finland but lives on a boat in Mallorca now... what is it you don't like about Finn's?
Well try one who's lived here all their lives and get back to me...
Seriously though here's a quick list ( i need to get to an exam) 1. am not very good with shy, aloof, introverts. 2. Language barrier. 3. I absolutely don't want to live in Finland for more than a year or so (more). 4. More coming up later.
jbibiza: Friends as well, I'm kind of a package deal... love me, love my friends!
I have 5 sisters ( three of them are here in Finland...oh, including my twin ) so these being my bestest friends, a man has to totally accept them. Don't think they have a choice. Giggle.

Well I guess he's not a typical Finn, He's one of the most exuberant people I've ever met, speaks fluent English and Spanish, doesn't live in Finland... so far I'm safe...

jbibiza: Was it the whole "Strongly Male Dominated Society" thing?
yes it was although they treated me with an outward show of respect it was almost as if a woman is humoured. The view is still very much that a woman's place is in the home and without an opinion that really mattered. I could see he was often in the middle but could not loose face with his peers.

Before everyone comes down on me for this.... this is only my experience and I'm not putting all Turkish men down!!!! That said...
When living in the states I met several Turkish men who were friends of my sisters boyfriend... When we were out I would see them in action charming the women, but when they came back to the group the derogatory way they discussed women was really shocking to me! I try to be open minded but when you see this so blatantly... I'm very wary of Turkish men now.

The person i was with was a good man and did not behave as his friends did, but i agree there way is different to say the least and i would not contemplate a relationship with one now.
