No, I wouldn't do it on the first date. I would want to know if we are compatible and know enough about each other to possibly live together. But I wouldn't want to wait too long either. It would be nice to find out if you both really enjoy it (especially at my age) before becoming engaged or married.

Here is one for all you bird lovers out there. A few years ago I managed to catch a bluebird egg in the act of hatching in a nest box in my backyard here in southeast Alabama.

Your chances are pretty slim on here for anyone within 200 miles of you, but I have met women on POF, DH and singlesnet. Even had a pretty serious GF for a while that I met on SN.
I would say yes, definitely. I was on a very popular site last year where paid and free members could communicate with each other. I would get a few emails each day of "potential matches" that weren't even close to my profile. Every few months I would get up to 1000 mails in a couple of days of "women interested in me" - obviously a ploy. The one time I did pay for a month I got nothing but scam mails from other states or West Africa & Russia the entire month while locals wouldn't even reply back.
Go check out my post in the picture thread forums titled "Better Way to attract singles". It's kind of a radical idea, but it may work. It's attracting a lot of attention as my facebook pic. Also there are other free sites with a lot more people on them here in the USA.

I'm 5'-7" and would find any height shorter than me attractive (around 5'0" to 5'-6") and not skin & bones. At least 150 lbs on up to 250 or so would be fine. In metric terms that would be 152 - 168 cm and 68 - 114 kg. I find soft huggable women a turn-on.
I started this early last year and met 4 women in person (two on POF and two on singlesnet). I had no problem at all. The first 3 were just too far away (80+ miles). Met one in a museum, the second came to my place (I live in my parent's home and my sister was even here that day), the third at a big fair and later took her on a 5 mile hiking trail. The last one admitted being disabled and could hardly walk, so we just became online friends for 4 months, even discussing dating experiences. That all changed when she invited me to xmas eve dinner with all her relatives. She fell for me and we wound up in an intimate relationship for 10 weeks (even spent the night together every weekend). But she ended it, knowing her disability would become an issue if we made it permanent. She was still 40 miles away so I only went up on weekends. The bad part is I'll never have that old friendship back, but glad to have experienced real love for the first time. I never get replies from anyone closer to me so I am going to try advertising myself with a custom t-shirt around town. Maybe find some local dates this time istead of long-distance. Don't really know of any other way to meet singles.
I like that idea. I'm considering actually doing that in the form of a t-shirt with iron-on letters. Something like "seeking a girlfriend" and a few likes/dislikes like a walking mini-essay. Then just wear it in the busiest super store in town. Most of the women in my area (I'm in the USA) that seem like a good match never respond on any of the sites I use and those that do are an hour or more away.
I've been trying it for over a year and I agree with your comment about so few that live close enough and near my age. I only met 4 women and only one got serious, but didn't last because of her disability. Most women in my area won't even reply back to messages and those that do are always 100 miles away. You can't meet anyone in person if they won't respond on the dating sites. I've had the best luck with POF, DH and singlesnet, but still not that great.
I'm planning on just making up a tee-shirt with iron-on letters stating that I'm seeking a girlfriend and a few interests and just start wearing it at the local Wal-Mart supercenter everyday. I may have more luck that way. At least it should attract a lot of attention. Just about everyone within a 15 mile radius shops there. Don't really know of any other way at my age. (I'm 53).
I'm in the same situation myself so yes, I would and I already have. I was just in an intimate relationship for 3 months with a 54 yr old woman who lives with her parents and promised to take care of them until they die. They did not even mind me spending one night with her every weekend. She had a back disability and could hardly walk, and ended it knowing I enjoyed hiking & the outdoors and wouldn't be happy in the long run. :(
