from the on-line Dictionary. Jewish interests in American Politics
Over the past century, Jews in Europe and the Americas have traditionally tended towards the political left, and played key roles in the birth of the labor movement as well as socialism. While Diaspora Jews have also been represented in the conservative side of the political spectrum, even politically conservative Jews have tended to support pluralism more consistently than many other elements of the political right.
There are also a number of Jewish secular organizations at the local, national, and international levels. These organizations often play an important part in the Jewish community. Most of the largest groups, such as Hadassah and the United Jewish Communities, have an elected leadership. No one secular group represents the entire Jewish community, and there is often significant internal debate among Jews about the stances these organizations take on affairs dealing with the Jewish community as a whole, such as antisemitism and Israeli policies. In the United States and Canada today, the mainly secular United Jewish Communities (UJC), formerly known as the United Jewish Appeal (UJA), represents over 150 Jewish Federations and 400 independent communities across North America. Every major American city has its local "Jewish Federation", and many have sophisticated community centers and provide services, mainly health care-related. They raise record sums of money for philanthropic and humanitarian causes in North America and Israel. Other organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League, American Jewish Congress, American Jewish Committee, American Israel Public Affairs Committee, Zionist Organization of America, Americans for a safe Israel, B'nai B'rith and Agudath Israel represent different segments of the American Jewish community on a variety of issues.
and I don't know too much about the UK dole system.
I do work in funding programs for the homeless here in Miami - so I understand a little bit about "not in my back yard", "blaming the victim mentality" (it is their fault they are homeless because they want to be) and a host of other attitudes and feelings that stem out of not understanding our fellow human beings.
She might have thought he was joking with his forewarning her. Who actually says I will pay for your meal only if you order and eat what I want you to eat.
It is really stupid on his part to try to dictate his lifestyle choices on her.
He should have found out before her lifestyle and then decide not to invited her on the date with food, if meat eating offended him.
However, the general rule of good manners is - if you invite someone to dine with you, you pay - if that is the understanding. Better that you choose a restaurant that only has a vegetarian food. "Conditional dating" is manipulative and controlling. And she would be smart not to date this guy again.
It is a beautiful sunny 82 degrees. He flew into Denver and drove to......? Then hiked in around Nymph Lake, Cub Lake, Bear Lake, Alberta Falls, Copeland Falls, Lower Falls, Calypso Cascades, Ouzel Falls or a least a few of the spots that he sent text photos of ....
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. John McCrae
I am glad you asked Pedro. I plan to pick up my friend from the airport later today. He has been out hiking in the American rocky mountain area, and returns to Miami.
For me, here at 10:53 am it has been a usual morning in the CS forums and then lunch, and maybe a walk to the zoo. I live close by.
I am sorry you do not see any inherent humor in my sign about the Irish and Drink. It was to make a statement about the apparent rift between Irish Travelers and Irish Settled. Again, humor trips slightly over into ugly truth sometime. My humor missed it's mark.
So go ahead and make fun of the Americans...... I can handle it.
actually the dog is won the ugliest dog in the world contest - my understanding is it is a loving pet to the family.
I was saying, I have OCD in my compulsion to respond in this thread when I said I would not. As a compulsion. and the dog is an example of an ugly head.
Get it? OCD rears it's ugly head? I thought it was funny.
I love flying - of course my father was a Royal Canadian jet pilot.
I often face my fears in the ocean - it is so vast and unknown with large creatures that can sting, or take a bit out of me. So I just suck up the fear and do it anyway.
RE: American people are so loving but why whole world hate American govt policies.
