Thick-hearted

Makes me wanna bleed
cut a vein for the penance
brush the webs off my heart, rid myself of remnants
born a poor tenant and the future look dim
the loss of abuela was too much for abuelo so they took him
I beg the lord, with every atom
that lifeline persevere
every move got a purpose, may that point be quite clear
makes me wanna scream until my soul escapes my lungs
I'm a felon on paper-broken angel in the slums
where the shots don't damage but silence slowly kills
where the have-not's swear they could afford to burn bills
Albertico may you grow into a deeply-rooted tree
may your arms like the tallest branches
spread beautifully...

Give My Regards.. Verse 1

She took my virginity
I smoked my first blunt with her
She let me love her and I swore I wouldn't quit her but...
sometimes a promise is made to be broken
when I left-between us, no words were spoken
tears ran down her cheek
I wiped them with my finger
kissed her on the lips and said
"I wish I could bring you"
we went through alot
beef with knuckleheads and chicken heads
when I came home late, she was there on the bed
there to hold my head over the sink after too many drinks
looking at her with pink eyes
she made things better in a wink
we made wished on stars, had water fights in the summer
we held each other tight when on cloudy days-it thundered
I left my heart with you so until we're reunited
you;re the inspiration for this song and how I write it

About this poem:
I wrote this many years ago when I was an aspiring emcee.. I now recite it as a spoken word piece. It is dedicated to Brooklyn, after I moved to the Bronx for a while
