Exploring foreign films on Netflix (plus one Hollywood film)

Yesterday, I was bored, so I watched three films back to back. Mosul, A Man Apart and The Last Runway. Let's begin with Mosul!

What is it about? It's set in the Iraqi city of Mosul, at the height of the ISIS regime, and we follow a small Iraqi swat team, in their efforts to fight back against the terrorist movement. All the actors are Iraqi or Arabic, meaning that this film is in Arabic, with very few English phrases. The movie is filled with fantastic moments, and it also has a fair amount of blood and gore. If you like foreign films, give this a watch. Just do me a favor: Watch it in the original language with subtitles for the best experience.

Next up is A Man Apart, starring Vin Diesel as Sean, an ex-gang banger turned DEA special agent, who busts a drug lord on Mexican soil. However, retaliation is swift, and after a tragic event, Sean digs deep into his past and unleashes justice his own way. This is an old fashioned revenge action flick, with decent performances by Diesel and his co-stars, and it's worth a watch on a Sunday morning, when you don't have anything else to do. It's not bad, but it's not good either. It's a middle of the road typical American revenge flick, with some explosions and shootouts, and a plot that is pretty solid.

So that leads me to the last film on today's blog: The Last Runway (or Leal, solo hay una forma de vivir), if we have to get specific. After a series of embarrassing attempts at busting a drug lord, a former Colonel, Fernandez, is appointed Minister of the National Anti-Drug Agency (SENAD). He purges the special forces, and starts from scratch to fight the first of many battles against the drug trafficking on the border of Paraguay and Argentina. As with Mosul, this film is in a different language than English. It is Spanish this time, which makes the movie super fun to watch. It has everything: Action, comedy and a fair bit of good music as well. The main villain is.. Not very threatening, however his brother is. He comes across as someone with a VERY short fuse, not something you want while running a drug smuggling ring. But the movie DOES get credit for being very inventive with the camera angles.

Grade time! Mosul gets a 9/10. Great film, highly recommended! A Man Apart gets a 6/10. Nothing special, but just a middle of the road grade. The Last Runway gets an 8/10. Fun and extremely creative!

Resistance is futile...

Comet TV was doing a weekend marathon and Star Trek: First Contact was on last night.
It's a Science Fiction movie about space travelers in the 24th century. The focus of the movie is for the spaceship Enterprise who went back in time to thwart the efforts of the cybernetic Borg, an alien group of organisms who traveled back in time to change history.

I dislike TV commercials and get up to pursue other interests (like snacks in the kitchen) and often miss parts of the movie, but it's expected to play again this month!

Usually the last music I listen to before bed is playing over and over when I awake. Today is no different.

While on the subject of resistance being futile, news this morning, Trump's claims of election fraud aren't going well for him.
After seeing the ads where's he's asking for donations to support his court battle that 60% of the money goes to pay off his campaign debt... the longer he keeps an audience to believe he actually has a chance, the better-off he is financially. Not conceding is expected, but there will be a new president swearing in January 20th.

Looking forward to 60 Minutes this Sunday.

I've read that Trump walked out on an interview by Leslie Stahl, because the questions were too tough for him. crying He was also supposed to take part in an interview with Mike Pence, but didn't come back for it.

Joe Biden was also interviewed and simply answered their questions without storming out like a 3 year old.

Perhaps it will be another nail in the coffin of the Trump reign of terror.

Is it even possible, that there are still some people out there, that actually still think, that Trump is smart ? dunno

From the proverbial frying pan...

...now directly into the fire. And the evolution of collusion.
It's one thing for the Main Stream Media to lie in their support of Dems. Only the most severely afflicted Syndromics still deny this as fact. We have a few right here on our beloved CS blogland. An obsessions and compulsions driven lot..
But now things have gone a big, VERY big, step further.
As credible evidence of the Hunter/Joe/Jim family corruption mounts, now with the news that the FBI has an open case on Hunter, simply twisting and spinning the facts no longer suffices for the once honorable, and journalistic, MSM.
Now, under the fake, VERY fake, veil of "unverified info", the MSM simply has joined forces to place it under a total blackout, VERY total, over all related news on this latest of Biden family corruption scandals. And big data are increasingly blocking such info on their social media sites. Use the name Hunter in your blog, and get dropped instantly.
Well, the cracks are starting to show.
The example at "the Intercept", may be a cautionary tale of such.
Apparently, all this blacking out, and blocking, has gotten to one of the higher ups at this left wing site, of ebay creaters, 'First Look Media'. It would seem that one Glenn Greenwald there has resigned over his concerns of trading journalism for cover up.
Nothing made up here, folks. Look and ye shall see.

How clueless can one get?

So, even though the BBC no longer beams its short wave dribble to Gringoland, still can catch some of it on my powerful, VERY powerful, amateur radio rigs and treetop antennas. Still climbing those 40 meter pines, I be. Too much of a show off for my own good, as neighbors gather to watch. And to pray for a slip downward.. Not to worry. Merely another covert hypnotic induction technique, just the mention of it. Just watch as well. I do digress.
Mostly African and Asian services now, and these, on the lamb at the speed of light, which arrive after circling Mother earth herself, (the long paths), come in crystal clear. And not as on old crystal sets. The trance thickens, as I rant on. .
As with the dreadfully somniferous Australian broadcasts, most is generated by degenerates. Kiwi land radio still rocks, though, each morning here. Leftie for sure, but much more balanced.
Years ago, as with spot on coverage of the war in the Malvinas, these waves are largely things of the past. Although there's still some stuff worth listening to. Of course, it's all on line now, and on NPR---National Proletarian Radio. Even on my dumb, VERY dumb, smart TV.
So today, among the near total Trump -hate nonsense, some little gold toothed, gum smacking, reporterette of color, went on, and on, and on. As it seems are 90 % of the staff. And this, since being hired from the Communist faculty propaganda set ups in schools of "journalism", ---well she tried to explain the huge, VERY huge, "silent support", beginning with Trump 2016, and now there once more.
Quoth she, with her M style down under grammar, that in her interviewing of Yanks, few seemed to admit to being Trump supporters, in spite of standing room only (outside, and around the blocks) rally's.
She got it partly right. After all, with all the violence, looting, arson, etc., from the alt leftie peaceful demonstrators, such as fascist BLM and antifa, and the destruction of Trump campaign signs, on personal home property, ---well, many are silent indeed.
But she overlooked the effects of that big, VERY big, BBC banner on her microphony. Folks know what cooks on such main stream biased media. Why be interviewed, only to have things cherry- picked, or simply ignored, if at all sounding powerfully valid and cogently spoken?
The clueless, mistrusted, media.
