RE: Does anyone Actually talk on here, or just look at Profiles?

I saw one today... A lady my age. She had a lot of "I read people like a book, so dont even bother" -whoa... settle petal.
But the bit that got me was- Dont even bother if you are over 45 and havent really looked after yourself well...
Hmm, I must have lucky genes because I have made little effort over the years (I do physical work I guess), and would distinctly be right out of her league (and I'm nothing special I assure you). She had "curvy" but I would say fat, but maybe thats just me being angular.

Short answer, is there any point looking at profiles?

RE: Why Jesus??

In Luke 17:2 it says- Jesus was waiting at the traffic lights fiddling with the radio, when Abraham pulled up next to him and started gunning the motor. Jesus was having none of this, he'd spent a fortune on a new set of tuned length extractors and a filthy Holly 750 carby. However, just before the lights changed Abraham jumped the start and red lighted, leaving Jesus with a free run. Jesus wasnt the best of sports mostly, and today was no exception as he blasted his musical horns and flipped Abe the bird as he drove past slowly.

RE: How did you come by the name you use on CS?

My favourite number, and a funny movie spelled backwards.

RE: Why Jesus??

If you say aliens from outer space are coming to abduct me, people think you're mad... On the other hand if you say Jesus is coming to take me to heaven, well hallelujah brother thats fantastic!

RE: Why Jesus??

Personally, I think my bible stories are much better than the originals... Such as John 5:13, where it says, Dont put too much tobacco in the mix because it makes me cough and you dont get any more out of it, so just use half a ciggy.

RE: Why Jesus??

One day at the sea of Galilee, the desciples had all gathered as usual to hear Jesus speak. But he did not speak on this day. He slowly pulled a rather large salami, Matthew and Mark gasped in awe. Luke and John produced a loaf of bread and offered it to Jesus. Jesus shook his head slowly, and with his other hand he held 2 onions.

RE: Not here to change anyone's mind.

The way I see things, if you're not here to change anybodies mind, you may as well far cough somewhere.

RE: Why do women .....

To be completely fair, she could probably point out I have written 3 much more radical things, in a row.

RE: Italian village offers USD2200 to move there.

Yeah, ice is meth... Methamphetamine.

I thought they called it pee over there, thats what I see on Motorway patrol. And it seems all the police there are English.

RE: Bunkers In USA

I think a bunker would be a great cover story for a hydroponic pot growing operation... Secret, always furtively carting stuff into it and out of it, big water tanks, the list goes on. I wonder if anybody else has ever thought of that...

RE: And in this corner...introducing

I believe in areas of snow, mowing is not really required. However, there are various snow-removing machines and Zamboni's and whatnot associated with snow. So I'm not seeing any justification for a reduction in the word count. If anything it should be more.

Now you're sounding like Roberta Williams, or some other houso.

RE: Not here to change anyone's mind.

I wouldnt totally agree. For example, people seem to think wild animals are hell bent on killing as many people as possible, that sharks are just mindless killing machines etc.

They see this all the time on TV and in the newspaper, because it sells. The general public has a distorted view that driving to the beach is safer than the chance of being eaten by a shark, despite falling coconuts being resposible for more deaths than sharks.

Somebody informed from a different source, would be able to explain how apex predators are very important and a sign of a healthy ecosystem, and actually not as dangerous as you might think. I've paid to go out on a boat, past the baited shark drumlines, to scuba dive with sharks. They didnt bite me, but yeah I cut a few washers.

They're both informed opinions.

RE: Hindsight is a Wonderful Thing

Cheers Serene, I guess you hit a nerve blaming yourself.

To quote an awesome New Zealander, Russel Ingall,- if you keep looking back all that happens is you get a sore neck... Not sure if he's quoting somebody else too.

RE: Hindsight is a Wonderful Thing

I think as a younger man I should have been less angry and reactive, more empathy towards others and a bit less black and white about everything.

In the end of that era, more accepting of failure, and not let my kids watch me fall apart. Maybe less self-pity and been more goal orientated.

The current era, somehow get past the 6 month mark, and maybe not as quick to abandon the relationship at the first argument.

RE: Wildlife picture thread

You wont see any in Cairns or port drugless, too many dogs. That was at Etty Bay near Innisfail, a dog free zone. So yeah, about an hour south of cairns.

The fathers can be over protective of the young chicks, One chased me one time, but they make a noise and give fair warning. If they're used to people as this one is, not dangerous at all. But I wouldnt be taking too many liberties with them.

RE: Italian village offers USD2200 to move there.

Yes, the basics are usually available in a village. The village shop would also be struggling and prices a little high, so people drive to a bigger town with supermarkets, village shop goes broke then there's no choice.

A lot of towns now have serious social problems, due to the drug ice. There are towns of around 500 people, where 280 of them are drug addicts. Very limited opportunities, and very high risk of social problems, the kind of person attracted is probably on the last roll of the dice.

Maybe its completely different in Italy, but my guess is under the surface it might be a similar story. If they could get market rate rents, and attract professionals to live there, there would be no cheap rent or cash bonus.

RE: And in this corner...introducing

Welcome Chris.

Here at CS we have a custom, where newcomers must write a 1500 word essay about their lawnmower.

They have similar schemes here, you rent a farm house for one dollar a week. But they're not interested in single people because the idea is to get enough school enrolments to keep the school open.

While it sounds great, the reality is not many people can live in the country here. And what you save in rent you spend on fuel anyway.
