Do you mean that OP should make an impression that he is more positive, than he feels? That's deception.
Tulefell, I agree with riz. Yes, talking about good things and avoiding negative things isn't deception. It's positive reinforcement. There are thousands of articles on depression and how to avoid it. Focus on uplifting subjects.
It is just one way to lift a person's mood.
One man's ceiling is another man's floor. What for you comes across as negative, might be the top of joy for the OP. Or do you know him well?
Perhaps, OP's profile is the result of focusing on concentrating. If you can't accept people as they are, it's not their fault.
There are so many clubs you can join, find something that is close to your hobbies..........
When you do find a place, don't start telling about your problems, let that be found out as it happens.
Take it slow........have you checked out all the other things CS offers, poems, (nice group of people there and not all write poems I was surprised), games, video's lots going on.............
