will you pay to meet someone

Why is it that most dating sites require a subscribtion fee ? what do they actually do for you . I have paid a nice amount to a dating service once and i had 2 dates. Once i enquired about having my money back i have never heard from them again. Could not believe in a big city like Johannesburg (SA) that there were only 2 single men that was a match. so i am very surprised when i foudn this web site that you could actually talk to people and view profiles without a fee. I agree, Allie. (My ex is Allie, also). I gave up all paid sites, though I never paid a dime to any of them. I think the thought with paid sites is that if a person has to pay, it weeds out the "looky loos", and therefore is theoretically supposed to be a "better" site. But no site I've ever been on has gotten me anywhere, especially for long term relationships. I don't know if it's my age or something else.

i for one will not pay to be in a site. if we can not meet the right in a free site , why do we think by being in paid site our chances would be any better.?????confused

Paid sites are considered to be for really "serious" people. Since they pay, you expect them to be there with serious intentions, right? I've heard the best sites are the most expensive ones. I've been to a couple of paid sites and paid for the one of them. I thought "It would be ridiculous to miss my love for not willing to pay several Euro". On the first day I met a man there and we met for real but it didn't continue (he was from those men who seek for fun covering it in love words; other than that he was a nice man). On the other paid site men are so "serious" that when you reply to their "wink" they never contact you again.laugh
